“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October and I honestly can't rate it highly enough. We arranged an airport transfer as we arrived late evening about 9:30pm; on arriving at Casa Moro Walter offered us tea and coffee which was very welcome, but also brought out delicious home-made scones. Breakfasts were great, as was the dinner we had there - Marcelo is a great cook! Nothing was too much trouble - we had a tour one morning and asked if we could get a basic breakfast a little earlier than usual. This was no problem, and much more than we expected for 6:30am! Plus Walter offered to take us out to the airport for no more than the cost of a taxi at 5:30am to catch our flight.
The rooms are comfortable and stylish and the whole house is beautiful and a very relaxing place to stay, in a hectic busy city. As an animal lover the cats and dogs were an added bonus, with one cat (whose name I've forgotten) making itself comfortable on my lap from the start.
If I'm back in Santiago in the future I wouldn't think twice about staying here.

We had a wonderful time with Walter and Marcelo. They are great hosts, very helpful in suggesting restaurants and places to visit. Walter went out of his way to help us in trying to locate our luggage which the airline lost. The facilities are warm, inviting and comfortable. It is very conveniently located for exploring the city. Marcelo is an accomplished cook and made a delicious evening meal.

Casa Moro is a charming B & B / Guest House very centrally located with easy access to the Metro and bus. The house is charming with a lovely variety of colorful rooms which are tastefully decorated with wonderful art, artifacts and folk art. Walter and Marcelo are gracious and generous hosts who make everyone feel welcome. Walter is incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the city and Chilean life so it is always fascinating to talk to him. We spent a few days at Casa Moro then headed off for a brief trip north before returning to Santiago for a few more days. When Walter picked us up at the airport it felt like we were being met by an old friend. The breakfasts are scrumptious and Marcelo's dinners are a treat that should not be missed, especially when dinner is in the company of fellow guests. Loved the dogs and cats, they made the house feel so homey. Kudos to Walter and Marcelo for taking in street animals and turning them into much-loved and very friendly, loving pets.

The personable hosts, Walter and Marcelo, really make this place special. We speak very little Spanish but Walter went out of his way and took a lot of his time to help us with some travel issues such as rental cars, local area info and restaurant choices. The beds were comfy, the room was clean, the breakfast was good and the location ideal. We hope we can cross paths again on our next trip to Chile.

This review is super late but better than late than never. Casa Moro is our favourite BnB in the world so far (and we really like to travel). Walter and Marcelo make you feel like you are at your own home and not theirs. We actually miss them! The BnB is like a mini art gallery, very tastefully done up, each art piece more interesting than the last one. The rooms are beautiful and modern. Walter engaged us in very interesting conversation and we had a combined dinner with the other guests which was fun. Marcelo is an excellent cook. Not only he makes excellent restaurant recommendations, but also gave me tips on where to pick up some art pieces in Santiago. He made reservations for us at vineyards and even personally picked us up and dropped us from the airport (we used Santiago as a base for Pucon, Valpo and Easter Island) late at night and early in the morning. He has had such an interesting life, you almost want to sit and talk to him. First place ever, we wanted to impress the hosts instead of being impressed. They have 8 loving dogs who are all very well behaved and fun to play with. The location is convenient, only a short walk from metro station. Walter made special breakfast for me since I had dietary restrictions, including fresh yoghurt. Over the 5 nights we spent there, they became like family. Can't wait to maybe go back some day!

Santiago was the last part of a South American vacation I took recently. I spent so much time reading up on the other cities we visited first that I had read practically nothing about Santiago. The hosts of Casa Moro (Walter and Marcelo) though got me quite educated about this wonderful city. Casa Mora is walking distance from one of Santiago's main streets (O'Higgins) and close to a metro stop. Walter gave great advice of what sites to see and how to get there. Marcelo made fantastic breakfasts. Despite pets (note: I love dogs), the place was immaculately clean. What I especially liked was that both Walter and Marcelo were really friendly and took a great interest in speaking with the house guests. Walter was very open in taking about the good and not-so-good things about Chilean society. Thanks to the hosts and guests of Casa Moro, I was able to take advantage of everything a great vacation should have- I was able to relax, eat well, and be comfortable while at the same time learning something new.

We have travelled to many places all over the world and there are just a handful of very special ones - Casa Moro is one of them! We experiences what "mi casa es su casa" means. Walter and Marcelo were excellent hosts. They made us feel at home and welcome after a long trip to Santiago de Chile. They have adorable pets (special thanks to the feline Guest Relationship Manager Watanabe), the location is great, the house and rooms are decorated very tastefully and Walter's Scones are to die for!
