“Great location”
Reviewed 11 February 2009

We stayed at the Holiday Inn twice during our recent (Dec 2008 and Jan 2009) trip to South America. We were tourists and needed to catch early (6:00am) flights.

The hotel is great. Located 20m (a short walk across the road) from the international arrivals terminal; with spacious, clean, air conditioned, well soundproofed rooms; helpful staff (there was always one on duty could speak excellent English); good food that was moderately priced (at least for a hotel), free internet, and a helpful barman (who explained the intricacies of Pisco sours). We could not check the breakfast since we had to leave too early.

The hotel is modern and well appointed. They are developing a small garden at the rear of the hotel (an oasis of green amongst car parks) and it was very pleasant to walk there in the cool of the evening.

The staff were very helpful with our early morning flights, even going to the terminal to pick up a luggage trolley. We would strongly recommend this hotel. It could also be used as a base for day visits to Santiago since it is only about 30 mins by taxi to the centre of Santiago. And there are always plenty of taxis at the airport!

We stayed here twice in January when we had early morning flights to catch and it really couldn't be more convenient - it's literally just across the road from the terminal. It's a relatively new hotel, has hi-speed Internet terminals in the lobby (but the system of getting passwords for the free 60 minutes was fiddly) and a restaurant that only does simple meals but does them OK. I wouldn't want to spend hours and hours of free time here but if you want somewhere to sleep/shower that's convenient for the airport then it cannot be beaten.

IF you need to make a short stay in Santiago, this is a very good option indeed. There isn't much in Santiago worth rushing into town for (other than the Pre-Columbian Museum- not it's name) and paying US$80 round-trip taxi. This Holiday Inn is 2 minute walk from airport terminal, is comfortable, clean and has helpful staff and decent, inexpensive restaurant on premises. Pool and small gym can also be attractions for some. Highly recommended.

Our last night in Chile, following a cruise around South America.
With a very early morning flight booked, needed a hotel at or near the airport. Well, The Holiday Inn is attached to the terminal buildings, & no more than a two minute walk to departures. About 20 minutes from city centre.
The hotel looked new. I believe its no more than two years old. Very helpful & friendly reception with english speaking staff. We were given advice on the hotel facilities & free use of several PCs/internet, located in the bar area. A porter was available to help with luggage.
Our room was on the 5th floor, air conditioned, ( effective ), two double beds, wide screen tv, ( good choice of channels incl CNN & BBC ), plenty of storage space, hospitality tray, huge bathroom with bath/shower, & it was spotless. Blackout curtains made for a good nights sleep, & we could'nt hear a thing from the terminal buildings across the way.
Back on the ground floor, we made use of the internet, went to the restaurant for a light meal & a beer, ( fairly simple menu ), & served by cheerful staff. We didnt have time to use the indoor pool. Also noted several well equiped meeting rooms.
All in all, a very good experience. A comfortable & convenient way to end our trip, & get a good nights sleep before a long flight home.

I can't comment honestly on whether the room was worth the price, since we stayed here courtesy of Avianca Airlines (after our flight turned back due to minor mechanical problems, my wife felt too nervous to continue flying that day, and Avianca arranged a room-- and meals-- for us until the next day when we could get another flight). The room was large, modern, clean and comfortable. I did occasionally hear some minor noise from flights, but there were very few during the night. We thought the food in the restaurant was good, though not cheap. My wife used the pool and exercise room and felt they were fine. There are lots of monitors showing flight departures and arrivals. As mentioned in other reviews, this would not be a great place to stay for seeing Santiago. You can take a taxi or either of a couple of shuttle bus lines into the city, but if you want to spend a lot of time in the city, there are better (and cheaper) options. But if you are arriving very late at night or leaving very early in the morning, and aren't dissuaded by the price, this hotel is a good option. You won't find many airport hotels anywhere closer to the terminal.

As everyone else has said - the hotel is in a great location for a 1 night stopover.
I think it would make an excellent business stopover, but for leisure I don't htink it hits the mark; the main issues being the food and the pool.
The indoor pool has no beds around it - it is purely functional for swimming and then getting changed and returning to your room; not good for relaxation of any sort.
The food is overpriced, and the restaurants have limited opening hours. We wanted dinner at 4pm because of our body clocks (we were stopping over returning from New Zealand), but nowhere was open. Instead we went into the airport to eat.

For a stopover the next time we tried Diego de Almagra. Not quite as convenient because you have to take their shuttle bus for 5 minutes. However for leisure travellers or if you have kids I think it would be far better as it has a large pool in a big outdoor garden, perfect for spending a relaxing afternoon. Their restaurant also had good opening times and the food was pretty good.

I live in Chile and regularly stay at this hotel, probably once or twice each month.
I'll start with what annoys me about this hotel
1. Piped music is annoying. When are hotel managers going to learn that piped music is just an annoyance. It is loud in the lobby and some of the corridors.
2. The restaurant staff and the manager are experts at ignoring guests. Sometimes you can stand there for 15 minutes waiting for them to even acknowledge your existence. Service is pretty bad.
2. Internet computers in the lobby cannot be used by children under 18 - I have a ten year old who like most kids nowadays are better at using computers than adults.
3. In summer they overdo the airconditioning so the rooms are like a fridge and there is no heat in summer to warm a room up. In winter the heating also doesn't always work which usually entails a few calls to the front desk and a room change.
4. The airport side of the hotel has a busy road which can get noisy.
5. They give you a room at checkin and it is difficult to get them to change the room.
6. Too many security guards for my liking.
7. Complementary internet only lasts one hour.
8. Checkout is slow in the morning, especially at 10.00am
9. Lap pool which they say is heated is cold - it is probably about 20celcius. Spa however is a little warmer
10. The curtains in the rooms only have one curtain - they should have a sheer curtain so it lets in the light but people can't see in.

The things I like are
1. some of the rooms facing the carpark are nice and quiet.
2. It is right outside the airport.
3. The internet that you pay for is good - download at 500kb/s and upload at 2mb/s - generally reliable.

  • Liked — Internet, close to the airport
  • Disliked — Piped musice, poor service and bad staff in the restaurant
