“Really French , reasonable prices”
Reviewed 25 October 2012

Very good surprise ! Looks like and old traditionnal Frnech café near Montparnasse or Montmartre.
Good food: "surtido de fiambres" (plateau de charcuterie) , trout, coq au vin, big chocolate cake, good wine "a la copa".
CLP 35000 /2pers. Cheap if compared with some neighbors !...
We go back on saturday to celebrate a birthday.

“Disappointment on a plate”
Reviewed 24 October 2012

We hopped into this place on a Sunday because nearly all of the other restaurants in this area were closed. Too many places in Santiago are closed on weekends. The atmosphere was nice, and really felt like a French bistro. There is a smoking section and a non smoking section with different entrances.

Unfortunately, the food was pretty underwhelming and weird. We ordered three starters: Ceviche Normandie, Beef Carpaccio (Carpaccio de Vacuno), and Omelette A l'espagnole, as well as a Crepes Au Canard (duck crepe). Big mistake. As with every other place else in Chile, the portions were huge. But this wasn't the problem.

The beef carpaccio was well cooked, not raw, and rather bland. The only taste coming from the capers and rather stiff cheese. The Ceviche Normandie, which by the description is supposed to be some kind of seasonal fish, was actually smoked salmon. It wasn't marinated in any kind of citrus juice, and was not served in a bowl, thus precluding it from being considered a "ceviche". They may have squirted some lemon on it before serving, piled in a rather large cylinder on the plate. Smoked salmon is salty, and eating that much of ALONE isn't easy, especially when it is precisely not what you are expecting. Do not order this. There is a Salmon Ceviche on the menu, and I don't know what this might be like. The omelet was OK, but also huge and dry. It was more like a cake than an omelet. The crepe was the only saving grace, and it was quite good, though also very large.

Overall, not a good experience. Maybe you should stick to the typical French menu items, and not stray to anything too Chilean. They don't seem to know what they're doing there. We had a wonderful ceviche at the Mercado Central.

“Tre bien!”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

Really great French spot which is difficult to find in Santiago. Try the duck l'orange and you can't go wrong! Their french onion soup isn't the best I've had, but it will do for Chile.

“French atmosphere in Providencia and excellent steak tartare”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

This is one of my favourite places to eat in Santiago. Food is excellent (steak tartare, duck, fries, mussels - they are all the real thing), service is lovely -and it isn't always in this city- and it is difficult to beat the atmosphere - it is like an authentic café you would find in the North of France, Belgium or the Netherlands. Prices are very, very reasonnable.

“Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, great food and service”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

There aren't too many places in Santiago where prices at restaurants remain reasonable and with international standards, but Normandie is definitely the exception. They have a great wine list to choose from, and the service is well above average. I have eaten there at least 6 times already, and I have been quite impressed almost every time. Avoid the 1 Asian plate on the menu, not their strong point.
