My friend and I spent 2 days in Valparaiso this month and taking this cooking class is the activity we most enjoyed. We had fun visiting the market, tasting a number of Chilean wines, making Chilean specialties such as empanadas and pastel de choclo and then eating all our delicious concoctions. We were 8 people, from 4 different countries (I think it's great they keep groups sufficiently small) and in the course of the afternoon and evening everyone got chatting, so much so that at the end of the meal no one was really in a hurry to leave and we ended up staying rather longer than the programme intended for. However, our cook Ines was relaxed about us and did not make us feel like we overstaid our welcome.
Ines is an excellent teacher with a lot of knowledge of the local cuisine. After my trip I tried to replicate the empanadas at home (they did not quite turn out as yummy as on the night) and when I asked for advice she responded to me quickly. That's client service! Thanks Ines!

I took the cooking class during the first week of March 2014. Ines taught the class and she is fantastic. We started out by deciding what we would cook from some options Ines provided. Then we went to the market to get our ingredients and back to the cooking school.

The wine tasting before we began cooking was fun and informative. There were four of us in our class and we all participated in preparing the meal. It was delicious and we had a wonderful time.

Ines is great--she's a great teacher and is interesting to talk with about Chilean culture. This is a must-do activity in Valparaiso!

It was a great experience. You choose your meal and go to a local market to buy all the food. The vine tasting afterwards was great. Ines explained us how to taste a vine and how a good vine has to be (smell, tasting, color...). During the food preparation we really got into chilean food culture. Of course it was veeeery delicious.
You get numerous of chilean recipes. Thanks for everything

As it turned out, we saved the best for last. Spending six hours with Ines Bertori at the Chilean Cuisine's cooking class in Valparaiso was a treat, teaching us not only a bit about Chilean gastronomie, but culture as well. From the coffee shop meeting to discuss choices for a luncheon meal (including dietary restrictions and limitations), to the market to choose fresh ingredients, to the kitchen for incredibly patient oversight and assistance in preparation, wine tasting and choosing, the experience was one of the highlights of our time in Chile. I can not recommend this venue highly enough - I wish there could be a sixth star.

This was one of the best experiences in Valparaiso. Boris started the 6 of us off in the huge market, where he helped us pick out fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese, and we got to meet the friendly vendors. During the class, he shared personal experiences, Chilean music, secret tips, we sampled and chose the wines for our 4+course lunch. The time passed rapidly because Boris made us all feel at home with his dramatic flair and love of cooking and sharing his culture. Not to be missed! Afterwards we received copies of all the recipes.
