Caleta Horcon was a hippy hang out many, many years ago. Now it has lost much of the hippy vibe and what remains is just a little tourist fishing town that is a bit stinky. VERY crowded on a holiday. Not really worth a visit. Further up the road are much nicer places such as Zapallar and Papudo. Keep moving on.. .

I have a house there since I was born and I can recommend this place for different reasons, the beach is huge and you have a place with rocks where you can do some "adventure" and arrive to a beach full of agate stones. The houses are completely separated from the "town", the commerce to be specific, so you have your own space without the noise of the stores near. In one side you have a small forest and in the other side you have a lagoon with ducks and swans. Definitely a great option to spend your holidays away of everything.

The "bridge of dreams" is a romantic little outjut of bridge on the rocks where visitors can tie ribbons, and there is an interesting art market just next to it with local crafts. However, other than this, there are only a few real restaurants, and the rest just some food vendors. First time I saw sea lions up close to the pier, where I walked off the main path and saw fishermen gutting fish, patient sea lions waiting for scraps, and giant, looming pelicans. Locals out on the main drag often stared or made comments when we walked by. Main restaurants completely touristy: ask a local their favorite grub spot! Definitely not worth the trip to spend more than a few hours here, but nice to kill some time.

Plenty of life to be found in this village. It is a destination for families and teenagers who dislike the pretensions of Zapallar up the coast and cannot afford them either. Inexpensive fish restaurants line the sandy road next to the small bay, every inch of which is packed with people. Walk to the end to take in the hippie market - real hippies from the 70s with music to match. If you have the energy, follow the difficult hour-long walk on pebbles in the other direction to the sandy nudist beach of Playa Luna. If you arrive on a summer weekend, park at the very top of the village and walk down - the traffic is at a standstill lower down.
