“Felt like home”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

After traveling through the Galapagos and the Amazon for over two weeks, it felt as if we had walked into home when we arrived here. The hotel itself as well as the staff were warm and inviting. Quito is such a large city that it's hard to say what an ideal location is. The staff always had recommendations for us for sites and always arranged for cabs for us and told us how much we should expect to pay. And because taxis are so cheap, the location seemed great to us! Also, this hotel is amidst several restaurants. We literally ate at the two next door (one on each side) and one at the bottom of the street (because we did not want to wander far because we could not wait to get back to the hotel, seriously!) and they were all FABULOUS! The one at the bottom of the street was the recommendation of a staff member. When they inquired as to how I liked it, I raved about the ceviche and upon check out what did they give me, but the restaurant's ceviche recipe. Also because breakfast was included in our room rate (we did the Quito/Sacha Lodge package.... both highly recommended), when we had to leave at 3:30am to catch a flight back to the States they so kindly packed us a snack bag full of breakfast and other snack items to take with us, including beverages, The décor is beautiful and our room had a little sitting area/patio outside. Even though we were in the middle of this giant city, you would not have known it sitting on that terrace. I also loved that this place had a little library with lots of interesting books to peruse. My only regret is that I wish we would have stayed longer.

I just returned from a very pleasant stay at Casa Aliso. I spent two nights there on my way to the Galápagos Islands and three nights after the Galapagos. Everyone on the staff were exceptionally accommodating and helpful. My first day I was quite ill with altitude sickness and the staff went out of their way to try and make me feel better. Any request was taken care of immediately. A lovely breakfast was served daily, even my last day, when I was the only one there! One of the front desk ladies even personally walked me to a nearby restaurant to be sure I found my way. All toiletries were provided, along with a good hair dryer, so no need to pack those items. Also provide bath robe and slippers. The location is very convenient to a number of good mid range restaurants. This is a beautiful big old house that belonged to a doctor that has been converted into a guest house. These are several nice cozy sitting areas, a crackling fire on chilly nights, and tea and cookies to welcome you back from a day of sightseeing. I offer an unqualified recommendation to Casa Aliso!

Room Tip: This is a small guest house type accommodation. I stayed in a single room and also in a triple room...

Chose Casa Alisa on the recommendation of Journey Latin America. As per all their other recommendations, it was spot on.

Wonderful, warm, friendly, charming, high quality small hotel. After the long flight from Europe, i had been tempted to recover in an anonymous chain hotel. So pleased we didn't. So many good things - all reported by other reviewers - so I'll not repeat them.

Icing on the cake for us was on our departure morning, we had an 0430 breakfast for 0515 airport transfer. Expecting some basic ingredients to be left out for breakfast, we were amazed to be greeted by the chef making us fresh omelettes & serving fresh smoothies/juices he had prepared. Outstanding!

To say Casa Aliso was accommodating is perhaps an understatement. From our room to the common areas to the hotel's overall look and feel, it was a wonderful experience.

The staff was so attentive with everything from our amazing daily breakfast (eggs made to order) to making dinner bookings to arranging for transportation - they were fantastic.

While the hotel had an afternoon coffee/tea hour, if we arrived before or after this time, the staff had no problem bringing us coffee and biscuits to our room or to one of the common areas. Again it did not matter what the ask, the staff delivered.

Each of the sitting areas had a wood burning fireplace and they were also well attended to which made it feel even more welcoming and cozy especially after a long day of wandering around Quito and before heading out to dinner.

Speaking of dinner, we had some great recommendations and one evening we were personally escorted around the corner to a wonderful Italian dinner.

Every member of staff was so professional and they never missed a beat.

We stayed twice at Casa Aliso during our trip to Ecuador (we spent time in Cuenca) and it really was hard to say goodbye in the end.

Room Tip: We had room 6 which is a larger room (the matrimonial suite) and was in the back so was very quiet a...

Excellent hotel in downtown Quito, the triple family room was very large and comfortable. The reception staff were wonderful, one evening the gentlemen (sorry forgotten his name but think it was Patrick!!!) escorted us to the local Japanese restaurant and then when my daughter asked if they had any playing cards he said 'yes' and then ran out and bought her some!!
Breakfasts were delicious as was the afternoon tea and homemade cake. Great location and thoroughly recommend it.

We arrived in Casa Alison after a long day of travel and were so thrilled to be greeted by Staff who immediately saw we were tired and offered tea and biscuits which we greatfully received.
I cannot fault this hotel. From the amazing staff, beautiful decor, comfortable rooms and beds , everything was perfect. The staff went the extra mile to ensure we ate at good local restaurants, escorting us initially, arranging laundry, storing luggage . We would have liked to have stayed longer but unfortunately had to say goodbye to this delightful little Oasis in Quito.
Can't recommend strongly enough.

Room Tip: All rooms good

Once we were inside Casa Aliso, we began to see why it was highly rated. It is a beautifully preserved house, with well-chosen colours on the walls to set off the darker furnishings to good effect, without making everything seem gloomy. The staircase is pitch perfect! Patrick was welcoming and very helpful in suggesting an adjacent restaurant to us as he could see that we were tired - and he knew we had an early start. He even walked us the few steps there! He arranged for us to have a very early breakfast and we felt a bit guilty when we turned down the offer of various egg dishes offered by cheery staff who were there ready to cook for us. The room was clean, comfortable and featured a huge bed in which we slept well - if not for long enough! We only had a brief overnight stay, so missed out on features mentioned by others.
