We went on a nine day bike tour with Arie around the Quito area visiting places like Quilotoa, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Mindo, Banos, etc... It was awesome! Arie drove behind us while the two of us biked on the roads, but didn't follow too closely, so it felt like we were by ourselves. There were some uphills, but a lot of the riding was downhill. I felt like it was a good mix. My only suggestion for a better trip would have been better vegetarian lunches (I can't say how the meat lunches are). Arie can be a bit brash, but he's a good person.

Just spent 8 days with Arie's Bike Company. http://www.ariesbikecompany.com
I had a great time touring round Ecuador from COTOPAXI – QUILOTOA – CHUGCHILAN – CHIMBORAZO – BAÑOS – JUNGLE – PAPALLACTA and back to Quito!!!
I had a great time not just solid biking all day but we took time to see the sights in the area. We hiked up to the refuge point on Cotapaxi and also up to the Chimborazo refuge at 5000mtr where we go our passport stamped. Roberto our guide took us to the crater at Quilotoa where the previous day a condor was seen perched on the rim and he also planned the biking routes well and ensured we were well looked after.
He prepared lunch each day and found some interesting places to stop. Roberto booked us into some great hotels/hostels that would be hard to find on your own. (mama hildas and the native hostal in Quilotoa I will never forget.)

The scenary on the trips were breathtaking and we had more than enough time to stop and take photos. Roberto was a great guide, spoke english and spanish well. He drove the support vehicle behind us, infact we never really saw him for most of the time but he showed up when we needed him most like when i got a puncture - like he knew!!.

The biking is not all downhill so be prepared for some fun!

If you take this trip, make sure Roberto takes you swimming in the jungle river!!

Arie, the owner, a great guy! even turned up on the last afternoon and cycled with us!!
I enjoyed and would book again!
Thanks Arie and a special thanks to Roberto our guide.

Pete

Arie helped us have the trip of a lifetime this spring. We took an eight day mountain bike tour of the country. We rode on singletrack, dirt and pavement. The experience was fun and we never felt unsafe. It was wonderful having lunches and snacks along the way. Arie's expertise was demonstrated time and again by his choice of roads, paths, hotels and restaurants. I would ride with Arie again and have recommended him to all our cycling friends at home.
