“A perfect place to stay in Quito”

La Casa Amarilla, is a wonderful home away from home. It combines the warmth and coziness of your own home with a colorful decor that is truly unique and host (Jenny) who goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. You will not be disappointed in your choice to stay here. An additional plus is that Jenny is part of a foundation who is doing wonderful work in communities throughout Ecuador, part of the money from your stay contributes to funding much of this work.
A truly wonderful place and as the title of the review says "A perfect place to stay in Quito"

Jenny manages to combine a great family atmosphere with a service level better than most business hotels. After staying one week at Casa Amarilla, I can safely say that if I return to Ecuador, I return to Casa Amarilla. I slept very well in a room with view on Cotopaxi. I enjoyed the quiet neighbourhood, even though it's far from the old town (it's a short taxi ride to the business district and party district Mariscal). I certainly enjoyed Jenny's company and highly appreciated her help with EVERYTHING. Rafael Correa take note: if only Ecuador was run like Casa Amarilla...

If you are going to Quito and you do not want to stay in a hostel, then this place is definitely the place to book. The owner Jenny is exceptional in her advice for what to do and sincere in her hospitality. She makes you feel at home in Ecuador and helped in any way possible as I was nervous about coming because of the anti-American sentiment that sometimes exists in foreign countries. She provides safe taxi service if you want it, (for me to avoid any "sequestering") and she has a delicious breakfast ready for you in the morning. Also, the house is really beautiful and comforting to hang out in. I would stay here again if I ever come back to Ecuador.

La Casa Amarilla has it all. Good location in a nice neighborhood, charming comfortable rooms, great breakfast and best of all it has Jenny who makes you feel right at home right away. La Casa Amarilla is very artistically done and everywhere you look you see something wonderful that you hadn't notice before. Jenny makes every detail perfect. I always looked forward to breakfast with fresh fruit, bananas, strawberries, toast, all kinds of tea and coffee, fresh orange juice, cereal, yogurt and even the butter was perfectly smooth on top every time. Also nice music coming from the adjoining sun-room. What a nice way to wake up in the morning. As I was leaving and the cab was pulling away from the curb Jenny and her husband were both there waving goodbye. It truly did feel like staying with family.

Being a first time visiter to South America can be an eye opening and scary time if you dont know where to go or have a safe place to stay.
After two visits to Ecuador during different summers, I have stayed at La Casa Amarilla twice and I give my word that La Casa Amarilla is the best hostel you can stay at in Quito. With the wonderful Jenny running this hostel, it is easy to feel welcome and comfortable in her beautiful and eclectic household. Jenny is helpful and very generous and wants your stay at her home and travel plans in Ecuador to be the best that it can be! If you are looking for hot showers, a clean living environment, comfortable beds, fantastic breakfast and an exciting and colorful atmosphere, then La Casa Amarilla is right for you. I give my thanks to Jenny for making my Ecuadorian experience the best that it could be! I consider La Casa Amarilla my home away from home and part of a new Ecuadorian family.

Charming owner, Jenny, makes spending time at this hotel quite enjoyable. Rooms are colorful, breakfast always filling, guests are pleasant and the central location is perfect for visitors who want to sight see Quito. Whether for a day, a week or a month, I recommend this place over any chain hotel or large commercial hotel. And yes, Jenny is always a treat!

Casa Amarilla is a great place to stay in Quito, it's about 5 minutes by taxi from Mariscal Sucre and 10 minutes to the old town. The residential area around Casa Amarilla feels very safe to walk around, even after dark. The house is stylishly decorated and is very homely. The brightly decorated bedrooms are all very clean and comfortable with ensuites. Breakfast is very good with fresh fruit, juice, cereal and toast, also there's  tea, coffee and water available all the time in the lounge diner where you can sit in to watch TV. The best thing about Casa Amarilla though is the great host Jenny.
We were lucky enough to stay at Casa Amarilla on and off during our 3 weeks in Ecuador as part of our years travel in South and Central America. We first stayed for one night and then left early the next morning for Galapagos, Jenny immediately made us feel at home giving us a lift to the supermarket to buy supplies, booking us a taxi and also letting us store some stuff with her while we were away from Quito. She even gave us a key to get back in when we returned. After Galapagos we spent five days at Casa Amarilla, a little longer than intended due to illness, Jenny was very caring and took my wife to the hospital to get checked out - she is a saint! As well as booking taxis, ordering takeaways and assisting us in anyway possible Jenny also recommended places to visit and stay in Ecuador, she was a very good source of information.
The only things that would have maybe improved our stay a bit was if there was a kitchen to use for cooking (but this is not a hostel) and we only felt this because we're travelling for so long and don't like to eat out all the time. In summary this is a great place to stay if you want a friendly, comfortable, safe bed and breakfast with a brilliant hostess. Thank you Jenny for making Quito a highlight!
