Very clean, updated rooms yet still has old world charm. Small sized boutique hotel. Wonderful mix of old and new with decorating. Lots of exposed wood and beams; modern light fixtures and bath fixtures. Had two rooms, one for parents one next door for for teen aged children. Our room had King size bed and was comfortable. Bathroom had shower with good water pressure and nice hair dryer. Breakfast was nice and included in price. Wi-Fi included. Only stayed overnight, noticed heavy security outside at late hours. Friendly staff even with our late night arrival. Our rooms were on 2nd level (stairs/ never saw elevator) over looked a cobblestone street out front. We did hear some outside noise late on Saturday night as people might have been coming home from Bars or nearby restaurants. Streets appeared closed for though automobile traffic but our cab let us off with bags at the door. Wonderful view of the Panecillo and la Ronda from room. I wish could have stayed here longer to enjoy more of historic district on foot. Keep in mind it is about 1.5 hours one way to Quito airport to/ from this hotel.

The hotel was great, the room was spacious and clean with all the comforts you need, wify, good hairdryer, good shampoo and soap, great bed and linen. The breakfast was very good, the bread was specially fresh and tasty. The spot was great, walking distance to everything we wanted to visit. The staff was very nice.

Delightful hotel in Old town Quito. Staff is friendly and helpful...suggested places to dine. Decor of hotel is very cozy...soft couches and candles in the lobby.
Rooms are very comfortable. Breakfast (very nice) is included.
A perfect location to explore Quito on foot.

We stayed here for one night and it was beautiful. Our room had a view of the Panecillo and la Ronda. The hotel was so beautiful in a colonial house, great breakfast, great location!! I definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the outside are louder but the view is great!

Like the other reviewers we came and went on tours to the Amazon, Cloud Forest etc. and after Galapagos. The staff were friendly, went to a lot of trouble to be helpful and would respond promptly to any requests. You ask for lemonade and expect something in a bottle - it comes freshly squeezed and delivered to your room.... The rooms are beautifully decorated, it is clean and very comfortable. The courtyard is a special extra, the restaurant provides good meals, and we would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: Let them choose it for you.

We stayed here three separate times over the course of two weeks as we came and went from Quito. As a result, we were in three different rooms. Two were street-facing, and one was on the inside.

Pros:
-well-organized
-beautiful decor
-close to everything in the Old Town
-really comfortable seating areas in the lobby
-able to use the computer in the lobby to print for free
-coupons for using at the delicious chocolate store next door
-mostly nice staff

Cons:
-as many others have said, street-facing rooms are a bit noisier. However, we did stay on a weeknight and weekend and both times there was noise, but we did fall asleep.
-my parents also stayed here and after their first visit they knew they couldn't handle walking up all the stairs on their subsequent visit (due to shortness of breath and bad knees), so they requested a room on the second floor. However, they were still given an upstairs room and when they questioned it, they were just continually told over and over how it was an upgrade. They wanted my parents to avoid the noisy street-facing rooms, which was very thoughtful, but they didn't really respect why they wanted a lower room in the first place. They could've organized a room on the inside of the second floor.

Points to consider:
-internet didn't work in our two street-facing rooms, but did work inside room (18).
-despite the array of tables in the lobby, you are not allowed to bring in outside food to eat there. Although one staff member let us one night (when we didn't know it wasn't allowed), when the owner was there we were all of a sudden not allowed to. A bit inconsistent.
-in room 18 the shower door doesn't close properly and as such, water pours onto the bathroom floor.
-I agree with others that the food inside the hotel is much more expensive.

We stayed here after Galapagos on way to amazon Jungle and then back after the Jungle (La Selva Jungle Lodge which was great beyond words). They were great. We didn't need as much stuff so we left a suitcase there.

It is beautiful. The whole area is renovated buildings. All the rooms are different. We had two different rooms and both great. But try to stay away from rooms facing street as they are noisy at night when people are out at the bars, restaurants and shops. Great restaurant and public places. Staff very very accommodating and helpful.

Room Tip: Try to get room not on the street
