A group of 8 birders from Minnesota used Casa Jardin for a "base camp" for 5 nites of a 3 week birding adventure. We used the guest houses propietor Juan Carlos Calvechi as our guide. The location of the house made easy access for day trips to Yanacocha, Antisana, Papallacta Pass, Old Town, Jerusalem Reserve and more. It was nice to have home cooked breakfast and dinners provided in the dining room of the main house! The local ecuadorian cuisine was plentiful and very tasty. The owners are in the process of building a new addition that will house the dining hall and restaraunt with a swimming pool and meeting rooms. I looked forward to returning after a day in the field to a nice clean room with hot water and a nice shared commons space to have a beer or glass of wine. One could easily arrange any type tour or arrangements with Juan Carlos or his wife for your visit to Quito and Ecuador. They will even pick you up at the airport and arrange all your needs. A little treasure for sure! The gardens and grounds were very nice to stroll around. It is a bit off the beaten path so get directions from Juan or have them or a taxi drive you. They can arrange a taxi or needs for all transportaion.
