I don't generally give 5-star reviews, but in this case I will make an exception. The accommodations themselves were typical Marriott and that's a good thing. I would rate the bed, linens, bathroom, cleanliness, room size, etc. at 4-stars. We were at the end of the 5th floor hall and it was quiet as well.

Where Marriott Quito really shines is their service to their Marriott Rewards members. I'm a Gold level member and I was treated very well. The points needed for a complimentary stay are a bargain compared to Marriott's with similar features. In addition I was upgraded to the Executive level room and had access to the Executive Lounge throughout my stay. That meant free beverages including sodas, beer, wine and bottled water as well as food. We ate our breakfast in the lounge every morning. Some Executive or Concierge lounges at other hotels just have a continental breakfast with muffins and bagels, but this Marriott included a variety of full menu options including an omelette station, smoked salmon, meats, cheeses, and exotic fruits. We probably saved $200 by eating breakfast and snacks at the Marriott.

Also, I don't know if it's just the gold membership or they do this for everyone, but each night we had surprises waiting for us when we returned to our room. The first night it was a big platter of fruit, the second night it was fresh cut roses, another night it was chocolate. The perks kept getting better and better.

Finally, I had a midnight flight out of Quito so that sort of conflicted with the checkout time of noon. I simply made a phone call to the front desk, asked if I could stay until 7:00 pm and they said "no problemo." When I asked if there would be a prorated charge, they said, "No you're a gold member. Enjoy your extended stay and travel safely."

I have stayed in a lot of hotels, particular the Marriott brand and this one ranks up with the very best in terms of service. It may not have been as authentic as staying in a hacienda or boutique hotel, but for safety, convenience and service and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Quito. For the Executive lounge and the very generous late checkout the JW Marriott Quito is elevated to a 5-star experience.

By the way, we had a 6.9 earthquake while we were there (2/9/13) and we never felt in danger at the Marriott. In fact, our local guide told us that the government considers the Marriott the safest building in Ecuador because of its all-steel construction.

Room Tip: Ask to be upgraded to the Executive level and take advantage of the lounge. The convenience of free...

World class resort well located in the center of Quito. Hotel recommends that you do not walk out the front door to wander on your own due to petty thefts of vacationers. Most people that stay here prior to a Galapagos cruise will have a city tour with option to shop at the market. However, if you can, shop at the airport prior to your flight to Galapagos. There are much more quality items at the airport than at the market in Quito. Only 20 minutes from international airport. Beds very comfortable and included buffet breakfast has all that you can ask for. Keep in mind that throughout Ecuador, you can not purchase any booze on Sundays, but ordering a drink to your room from the bar is ok.

Room Tip: No matter what room you choose, you will be comfortable.

We stayed at the JW Marriott in Quito for two nights before leaving for the Galapagos, and then again for two nights on our return to the US. My wife and I highly recommend staying here. Nice, clean, and quiet rooms. Polite staff.

We love Marriott hotels in general, however this one is spectacular!
The lobby is large and welcoming. The large windows overlook the magnificent pool and gardens! Great health club with well equipped gym.
The rooms are spacious and spotless!
Roses adorn the lobby, the restaurants and the room.
The restaurants are great with wonderful buffet breakfasts!
Staff are helpful and friendly.
This is a first class hotel!

This is the third time that I stayed at this hotel, but it was the best ever. Since I arrived to check-in the staff was so friendly and efficient. My room was beautiful with access to the lounge where I found a nice place to relax and enjoyed a glass of wine.

The restaurants are great, you can find a huge bar across the lobby or you can decide to have a formal dinner in a nice Mexican restaurant or a delicious steak in the Argentinian restaurant.

Once again, a great hotel to stay to visit the magical city of Quito.....

A beautiful hotel with impressive lobby, several boutique stores and lots of roses everywhere! It is worthwhile to get a room on a higher floor with a balcony and access to the concierge lounge. The rooms are large and the balcony views are gorgeous looking at the sparkling lights on the volcanic mountains at night. The room are spacious with large bathrooms [separate deep tub and separate shower]. A rose was placed on the bed for turndown service!!! The meals and snacks served in the concierge lounge were very good! The location of the hotel was central. Customer service was also very good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again should I visit Quito in the future.

I must begin by saying I'm a long time Marriott Rewards member. In my business life I stayed almost exclusively at Marriotts and have come to expect a quality experience. The same is true for the JW in Quito. The bi-lingual staff is warm and welcoming catering to my every need. The concierge level was a huge surprise with a full kitchen and chefs attending to breakfast and dinner not too mention various snacks, beverages and desserts. I'm pleasantly surprised by the virtual concierge service that allows you to set up your transpiration needs, e.g., limo, cab, buseta from the airport to the hotel and return. Overall the JW - Quito hits the mark I've come to expect at Marriott.

Room Tip: Great value if you're a Marriott Rewards member with points to use.
