A truly lovely hotel.
They foyer is filled with fresh roses, the staff are warm and obliging and the room was the standard one would expect from a Marriott.
The lobby bar serves excellent sushi- we had to go back a second time.
The Mexican restaurant was OK. Our enchiladas were a little dry and only luke warm.
The travel agency in the hotel is called Mallku.
We did two full day trios with them and they were brilliant.
Special thanks to our guide Liz.

Room Tip: Request a room that doesn't look over the parking lot next door.

This is a good Hotel. The rooms are old and in a desperate need for an update, as are the towels are robes. I guess the part of the hotel are the people. The service is quite amazing. Everybody in the hotel is really nice and willing to go beyond and above to help you.
The massage in the spa is ok but its not worth the usd97 that it costs.

Stayed at the JW Marriott in Quito while traveling with a friend. Quito was our first of a few stops in Ecuador and it was nice to start the trip with a hotel that had ample amenaties. The hotel was able to arrange for an airport pick up (a nice add since the airport is a ways outside of the city), helped us book a driver for a day trip to Otavalo, and had nice restaurants. As a Marriott traveler, we also had access to the executive lounge which we took advantage of quite a bit. For the most part the hotel staff was execellent and very helpful (we struggled to get appropriate support from one of the staff members but she was in training and I think very new).

We stayed at the Marriott as part of the Celebrity Xpedition cruise package. I thought it was a lovely hotel and good location near the colonial zone. The rooms were spacious with great views of the city and mountains; the big bathtub in the compartmentalized bathroom was a great way to relax after walking around town and particularly after 7 days of hiking and snorkeling on the ship excursions. (Ship was wonderful but no bathtubs). We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet and Argentinean steakhouse in the hotel. The staff was helpful. I just really loved it here.
One bad thing - the hotel, as well as the whole city of Quito- is now a long drive from the airport. They recently opened the new airport but the road is part highway and part two lanes, city traffic, with lots of traffic lights. It takes about 45 minutes with little traffic, more during rush hour.

This is a big, bold JW right in the heart of the newer part of the city. It's certainly in keeping with the JW brand and is an ideal pit-stop for a night or 2 between trips in Ecuador. Far more interesting to stay at than the Hilton Colon for example, with nicer design, aesthetic and facilities. Breakfast starts from 5am which is great since many people will need to leave early to take that long schlep to the airport!
Great breakfast buffet and the pool area is resort-style.
Only very minor negative is the slight lack of good english speaking staff...sometimes slowed things down a bit unnecessarily.

Room Tip: This isnt the old city so most views are of tatty buildings so try and get a room overlooking pool i...

This is a classic Marriott hotel.Big and comfy rooms, great bathrooms. The hotel is well located in Quito, walking distance from handcraft market and about 15 min by taxi from the Plaza Grande. Staff were nice, nothing beyond. One default:we asked them once to get a taxi to go to the center and at first they didnt want to be bothered, then the bellboy got us a hotel taxi and told us we would pay 7USD to go downtown. In the end of the ride the driver told us it was 10USD.So beware that you are not supposed to pay more than 4 USD!Never take the hotel taxi, just go down from the hotel and grab one of the yellow cabs.
The restaurants in the hotel are very average. The service was nice but the food terrible-undercooked and very small portions and choice. The room service is quite fast and tasty (14 USD for a burger with frise).
Overall, we would stay again.

I've stayed here for 12 hours only, as I had to escape back to the States due to flight cancellation.

During my brief stay I quite enjoyed staying at Marriott. Being both GOLD with Marriott and platinum with IHG I couldn't work out from the reception team if I was upgraded or downgraded etc.... However, it is worth saying that I have arrived early and was promptly checked in without the need to wait until 15.00 which was excellent.

The quality of my daytime sleep was excellent.

The pool (dec 2013) was a little cold, but at these altitudes I wasn't surprised!

Hotel taxis might seem expensive, however, you can haggle and the hotel might be able to match yellow taxi prices, which was quite a pleasant surprise. The concierge team will help you to get the best value rate anyhow. Great guys.

The room was nice, but a little too old fashioned for me. The Internet was fast and reliable in all areas of the hotel.

Bathroom is very nice and includes a separate shower.

I'd recommend this hotel to any traveller, however, the rate could bite you just a little bit

TIP: no doubt you will head to the elevator to the hill /extinct volcano, however, I've been to high altitudes before (Hawaii), so please, allow yourself a day to relax and acclimatise to the normal city altitude ( 8000ft?) and then next day go to the hill (14.500ft?). Getting tipsy on/off the aircraft, checking in and jumping off to the 14,500ft mountain straight away is not exactly easy. Taxi to the elevator from hotel $5.
