This is a very nice hotel with good service and excellent amenities at a reasonable price. Rooms are clean and comfortable. They are reasonably sized , but certainly not spacious.. We had a king bed with bedside lighting controls, a work desk with officer chair, a small sitting chair and table and just enough space to walk between all of these. A large window overlooked the city and a small side window actually opened easily for fresh air! That was a treat. The room is equipped with safe, stocked minibar, robes in the closet and bathroom with tub/shower combo -- plenty of hot water and strong water pressure. Complimentary wireless Internet worked well in the room, the lobby, the bar and restaurants, although it required a new login at each sitting. Speaking of restaurants, there are several good ones connected with the hotel. We didn't make it to the Japanese restaurant but really enjoyed the Peruvian one and of course, the breakfast buffet in the hotel Cafe. The assortment was plentiful and included an omelette station, breads, cereals, yougurts, fresh fruits and juices, cheeses and smoked fish. Breakfast is included in many room rates or costs $20 for the buffet. A la Carte options are also available. There are also several good restaurants within a 2 block walk from the hotel.
Visiting in November presented us with alternating sun and rain daily. Temps ranged from the low 60s to 70s. When the sun hit the bedroom window, indoor temps climbed. Unfortunately, the HVAC system was in winter mode, which meant the heater worked but the A/C did not. We just turned it off and opened the window and we were fine.
The hotel shares a fitness/spa/pool with an adjoining high rise residence, which may explain the excellent amenities. There were ample numbers of treadmills, ellipticals, free weights and machines plus an adjoining room with a good floor for stretching and periodic classes. The pool is indoor/outdoor and nicely heated. The locker rooms offer sauna, steam, cold plunge, showers and relaxation area... all free to guests. Only spa services such as massages and wraps will result in additional charges.
All hotel staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Overall the Swissotel Quito offers a winning combination of comfort and service. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
