“A very good choice for Quitto Business or Pleasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2012

This is a very nice hotel with good service and excellent amenities at a reasonable price. Rooms are clean and comfortable. They are reasonably sized , but certainly not spacious.. We had a king bed with bedside lighting controls, a work desk with officer chair, a small sitting chair and table and just enough space to walk between all of these. A large window overlooked the city and a small side window actually opened easily for fresh air! That was a treat. The room is equipped with safe, stocked minibar, robes in the closet and bathroom with tub/shower combo -- plenty of hot water and strong water pressure. Complimentary wireless Internet worked well in the room, the lobby, the bar and restaurants, although it required a new login at each sitting. Speaking of restaurants, there are several good ones connected with the hotel. We didn't make it to the Japanese restaurant but really enjoyed the Peruvian one and of course, the breakfast buffet in the hotel Cafe. The assortment was plentiful and included an omelette station, breads, cereals, yougurts, fresh fruits and juices, cheeses and smoked fish. Breakfast is included in many room rates or costs $20 for the buffet. A la Carte options are also available. There are also several good restaurants within a 2 block walk from the hotel.
Visiting in November presented us with alternating sun and rain daily. Temps ranged from the low 60s to 70s. When the sun hit the bedroom window, indoor temps climbed. Unfortunately, the HVAC system was in winter mode, which meant the heater worked but the A/C did not. We just turned it off and opened the window and we were fine.
The hotel shares a fitness/spa/pool with an adjoining high rise residence, which may explain the excellent amenities. There were ample numbers of treadmills, ellipticals, free weights and machines plus an adjoining room with a good floor for stretching and periodic classes. The pool is indoor/outdoor and nicely heated. The locker rooms offer sauna, steam, cold plunge, showers and relaxation area... all free to guests. Only spa services such as massages and wraps will result in additional charges.
All hotel staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Overall the Swissotel Quito offers a winning combination of comfort and service. We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor with a view. There are a few suites that may only require a modest upgrade ch...

We stayed there in between trips to the jungle and Galapagos upon our travel agent's advice. Swiss hotel had clean rooms, confortable beds, staff that spoke English and a choice of restaurants. I enjoyed my trip to the pool, whirlpool, dry sauna and steam room which was relaxing after a lot of travel/hiking. The front desk and bellhops were helpful. The hotel's sushi restaurant and main breakfast restaurant were both delish. I would AVOID AT ALL COSTS the spa services/facials. I had a facial that was downright painful.

Spent 1 night here at the beginning and end of a 3 week tour of South America. As it was part of an organised tour, I did not book the room myself so am therefore unable to comment on the price

Our first room was a lovely spacious room with a huge window offering panoramic views across Quito and the mountains. Our second room was a large suite with his and hers sinks and 2 separate toilets. The second room was on the opposite side of the hotel but the view was equally as spectacular. The rooms offered everything you would expect from a 5* hotel including a fresh-cut rose each day, chocolates, daily newspaper, toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, iron, ironing board etc.. etc..

Breakfast was also as expected so no complaints there except for some reason, you had to ask for fresh orange juice and the waiters were very inattentive [so much so, they appeared disinterested]. Had an evening meal [along with 21 others] in the La Locanda restaurant and I have to say, the food and service were exceptional

I think our tour operator most probably chose this hotel for it's proximity to the airport. There is nothing much around of any interest to a tourist but that didn't really matter to our party, as we were basically in transit. There is a supermarket a couple of minutes walk away which is ideal if you want to purchase cheap beer/wine etc..

We stayed at the Swissotel on both ends of a trip into the Amazon Jungle. It was included with our package, and as such we didn't actually choose it specifically, but we were delighted. We were met after an entire day of flying in the lobby with hot towels and hot mulled wine, which was certainly a welcome treat after multiple airports and airplanes. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Our room the first night was one of the business suites, it was huge, we had a full kitchen, with washer and dryer, and a walk in closet. It was comfortable and well appointed. We really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, which was included in our stay. They allowed us to store some luggage at the hotel free of charge while we were in the jungle, which was nice. When we returned from the jungle we stayed in a junior suite, which allowed us access to the Executive Lounge, it was nice to have access to wi-fi, and the computers. The food that they put out for breakfast, tea, and dinner is a nice option if you don't feel like trying to find someplace to eat. They do have a number of dining options right there in the hotel, which is very convenient. We were able to find shopping within walking distance, and felt very safe walking around in the surrounding areas during the day. Overall very nice stay, we would definitely stay again if we travel back to Quito.

we were 6 of my family one week and was fantastic. In th restaurants the food choice was really good and it tasted wonderful, the service was nice, according to a 5 star or more hotel, in the front desk they were always ready to help and to answer whatever you ask, the organized for us tours to the old city and the vulcans, our rooms were always very clean and well arranged, 2 or 3 times a day, the security and the portiers outside and inside were always ready to carry our luggage or our bags. My six old kid enjoyed the warm water pool and she found always something to do and to eat. Resuming, amazing stay in this hotel, we will return by sure there!

We stayed at this hotel for two separate nights on way to and from the galapagos. I couldnot have been happier with this choice. It had a very fun pool with hot rock room, great fondue restaurant, a small shopping mall, and fancy comfortable rooms. The only complaint was that they could have heated the breakfast more.

This is a beautiful hotel. The rooms were very nice; clean and spacious. They had all the amenities one might expect. The hotel staff were helpful and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was amazing! Fresh fruit and juices, omelet bar, breads, and my favorite fresh strawberry juice! My room was quiet but I was on the back! Enjoyed the gift arcade where I found some great gifts and lovely artisan crafts and textiles! I was traveling with Compassion International to visit my sponsored child. I never expected such luxury! I slept well but I was exhausted and even fell asleep on the phone talking with my husband one night!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on back!
