The Guayasamin museum is incredible, especially once you learn about the history behind the artist. He donated his house as is and much of his artwork to the people of Ecuador, and the trip through his collections and artwork is a great experience to soak up some national culture.

Arriving at the Guayasamin Museum and Capilla del Hombre was like stepping into a cultural sanctuary. After the somewhat somber and dramatic Capilla del Hombre, it was a delight to be guided through Guayasamin's home which no a museum by a young guide who had a broad knowledge about Guayasamin, history and art. I was the only non-Ecuadorian in the group, and what made the tour unforgettable was that members of my group ended up singing "La Vasija de Barro" by Oswaldo Guayasamin's grave.

We saved this visit to last as we had heard so much about the museum and we were not dissapointed. This indigenous artist gave his home and eclectic Art Collection to the Nation and it is housed in his home. An English speaking guide gave us the complimentary tour around the amazing house, and garden which is in a fantastic setting and has stunning views. Well worth the ten minute Taxi ride up to Bellavista

Fabulous art and history of Ecuador by their most famous artist, who was an indigenous person. I liked seeing the art, his home and the wonderful views. It is an emotional experience.
