I have stayed at this hotel on two different occasions on two seperate trips to Quito. It is a great little hotel, with a very attetive staff. Was greeted with bottled water (available for free upon request). and desk clerks with some English. Very helpful. Nice continental breakfast, with plenty of tables and space. There is no elevator, and there are four floors. we carried our own bags, but I'm sure the staff could assist for a small tip. We had a group of about 25 on a humanitarian visit, and couldn't have been more pleased. If you want a Marriott experience, then stay at the Marriott, otherwise, their $50 queen (matrimonial) and $55 Dbl/Dbl can't be beat. Group rates are also available by phone.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2009

When we arrived late after our flight was delayed, we were not greeted warmly by the woman at the front desk.

There is no elevator, nor is there anyone to help carry heavy bags up the stairs. That set a grueling precedent for our trip, lugging 25 kg up 4 flights of stairs. Perhaps we should have expected that. We would have been very glad to tip someone to help us, however.

We upgraded to the matrimonial suite, which was cavernous and plain. For breakfast, there was only hard rolls and cold coffee.

For $50/night, you can really get much better value elsewhere in Quito. Also, they were going to charge an extra $18 to use a credit card! We really loved Hotel Sebastian, which is just a tad more expensive, and also in a good neiborhood closeby (La Mariscal).

On a last note, we accidentally left a pair of shoes (yes, our fault). When we returned to fetch them, they'd already been misplaced/stolen.

Quito is a wonderful city and it was great to stay at Hostal La Villa! Comfortable spotless, light and spacious rooms, near shops and main tourist attractions and friendly staff, we went to the the markets on day trips and had some salsa lessons, then on to the Galapagos islands from Quito, We unforgettable holiday!
