“Planning on returning - a great place”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

I visited Quito in January 2013 and stayed at a B&B - they could not keep me for more than a night and transferred me to this hotel. What a gift! Super friendly staff who allowed me to practice Spanish, very helpful/patient with my multiple requests and need to change dates, etc. The room was cleaned thoroughly daily. The internet was a tad slow in the business center (sometimes I had to wait bc there are only 2 computers, but not very long) - but otherwise a great stay. The attached restaurant was helpful for when I did not want to go out - and the cacao tea was a life saver when I had altitude sickness. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a balcony (which had a decent lock). I am planning to return and am grateful for accidentally discovering this hotel!

Room Tip: i had a room facing the street on the entrance side with a balcony - it was not noisy and had a love...

Taking into account the recent reviews about this hotel, which are in general positive, my experience with it might be biased by the specific room I was given. It was a pretty small room with a rather old mattress; a damaged window close to the tub allowed cold wind to get into the bathroom; breakfast was OK but lacked variety. It does have a good cost/benefit relationship but I would not vote to it as the best choice.

The pros: rooms are large and comfy. bed is a king (which, from my experience, is rare in Ecuador). really friendly and helpful front desk. hotel taxi same price as street taxi (only $5 to old town). pretty central and easy to get to. some rooms had balconies. black out shades. attached restaurant was cute and well priced. good water pressure.

The cons: cable was out almost entire stay, no english news channels. internet worked on and off, was unable to connect to vpn with such low signal.

Room Tip: try to get a corner room - they seem to be bigger and have balconies. We were in room 407 which was...

Is it the Four Seasons? No. But it is a reasonably priced, clean hotel with nice staff, many of who speak English and try hard to be helpful. It is convenient to shopping and restaurants and is in a safe area. We have stayed here twice on visits to Quito. They put us in a smoking room by accident and then cheerfully changed our room to a non smoking room when we asked. I always remind my friends when we are in Central or South America that we are not in Kansas anymore. Things work at a slower pace than what we're used to so manage your expectations. Oh yes, and the breakfast buffet is very good.

Room Tip: Street side rooms have a bit more noise.

Short stay. Nice lobby and restaurant. Room was really frumpy and needs a facelift. Took awhile to get hot water and the traffic noise was so bad none of us could sleep at all. John at the front desk was fabulous and helpful. The surrounding area not safe. Lots of construction with huge open holes in the sidewalk. Be careful. Stay at Casa Joquin instead.

Our first 2 nights in Ecuador were spent at this hotel. Its location is quite convenient for restaurants and shopping. The room was large and very well equipped: indeed we never had a better room in our 23 -night journey in Ecuador and Peru. Opened on to slim private balcony, useful for checking the weather. Fine selection of toiletries. Lots of cupboard and drawer space. Just a trifle shabby eg carpets, and a coat of paint here and there needed. Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Sound-proofing very satisfactory although we faced towards the traffic, and no problem sleeping . Very efficient WiFi. No hesitation in recommending.

Room Tip: We were recommended 5th Floor and it worked!

We stayed in a triple room at the Sebastian for 4 nights. The room itself was very spacious comfortable and clean, the bathroom too. The staff were very polite but not always succeded in being helpful.
The shower in our room was not working well and it took them 2 days to fix it, we were offered another room but it was much smaller and closer to the street. Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the street and very noisy, hooting cars, sirens all sorts of loud noises from the street and from within the building(maybe the elevator) all night long.
The lobby is nice and gives the impression of a first rate hotel, The internet service is good and the laundry service too. A pity the slow service and noisy street spoiled some of our stay. The hotel really does have potential.

Room Tip: As far as you can from the street.
