“Close to Plaza Foch, the heart of La Mariscal”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

It is really important what room you get in this hotel. Rooms that are at the second floor have windows to the hall, so it is not very comfortable and you need curtains to be closed all the time. Rooms that are in the higher floors are quite nice, some with a balcony and a nice view. They also have a really nice terrace, but do not forget to use your sunblock before sunbathing. Breakfast is included in the room rate, it is quite nice. Talking about the hotel restaurant, it is really expensive for Quito and the food is not of a good quality. You`d better chooce another restaurant, there are a lot of them nearby the hotel. It is only 3 minutes to Plaza Foch, the bus stop is in front of the hotel, so you can go to different parts of the city. It is pretty long way to the old town, but you still can do it within 30 minutes. Wi-fi at the reception area is available.

Stayed 2 days. The building and rooms look well maintained and have appeal.

Close to the Foch plaza but far enough not to be noisy.

Our room was facing the inside and was quiet.

But, as is common in Ecuador, the shower/toilet rooms are smelly (it seems siphons or U-Bends are rare here).

For around $70 I would have expected not to have this issue, otherwise would have given 4 stars.

Maybe other rooms do not have that issue.

Otherwise the staff was helpfull and very friendly.

May stay again if we return to Quito.

I cannot say much about noise problems, as I was there during election weekend (for those who don't know- ALL alcohol is banned in the country the whole weekend), so the bars were closed the whole time.
The location is very nice- in a more artsy, laid back part of the city. Touristy, and clean, and (I thought) safe. There is a large square close by that has very nice restaurants with very good food, a small (local) craft thing set up almost every day, and plenty of other tourist.
The staff were very nice and friendly, and one of the front desk employees speaks pretty decent English, and willing to help plan trips, or set up transportation, etc. One of the other front desk employees speaks okay English, and isn't really into helping or lending knowledge. And for someone like me who had never been to Quito, and didn't have time to research things due to short notice, and has a 9th grade Spanish level- that mattered.
The rooms were very cute, and rustic, and clean. The beds were very comfortable, and even though there aren't heaters- they have heavy down comforters, and alpaca blankets. Trust me- you will get very hot in the middle of the night.
The only real complaint I have was-- not a SINGLE taxi driver had even HEARD of this place- let alone how to get there. I did a city night tour that ended at 1030pm, and was on the streets in the metro part of Quito almost stranded bc no taxi driver would even consider finding it. Luckily after the 10th driver I asked- one was finally willing to radio it in. So word to the wise- take a picture of a map, or an actual map with the location marked, and once you get there- write down the location, the streets it's on, etc. Maybe even take info of a more known location nearby- just in case.
All in all- I would totally recommend this place, and if I ever go back to Quito- I will more than likely stay here. (I like to stick to what I know. lol)

We started a 13 day trip to Ecuador by a night in this lovely hotel. Our plane was very late, but the hotel staff waited up for us. Arriving into a wonderful old style architecture, we were lead into the Junior Suite. A spacious and very clean room. Unfortunately, we had to leave very early the next morning for our flight to the Galapagos, we did not have the chance to explore. The chef did get up and ensured we had a wonderful hot breakfast.

The only problem was the group of people checking out at 4 am. They were very noisy and we could not sleep for an hour, until they left.

A great place at a great rate.

Room Tip: The junior suite for the price.

Main issue is street noise, which is outrageous on Friday nights. Interestingly, Saturday was not as bad and Sunday was nothing. 24-hour guard at the front door; very accommodating front desk people. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the whole place very clean. The location can't be beat, if you want to be in the Mariscol.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one!

Overall our experience was fantastic: me and a group of classmates stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights, the rooms are comfortable. clean, WiFi is fast, friendly and polite staff. But, the best was its location, close to local and international restaurants, pubs, malls and parks and easy access to private and public transportation. Thanks Fuente de Piedra 2

Room Tip: Choose a room with a inwards balcony

I spent a couple of days at Fuente de piedra II. I love the kind and friendly staff, great and abundant breakfast, clean and well maintained rooms (traditional style). But above all the location of this hotel close to parks, malls, international restaurant, and pus etc. is what make this place unique and different, I highly recommend this hostel

Room Tip: try to book a room facing the main street
