Located that the northern end of the old town on the corner of Chile & Cuenca. The expanse of white washed walls hides a wonderfully beautiful interior. The gold is a little more subdued than some of the other churches in town. The underside of the dome is tastefully painted in pinks and blues. Around the large courtyard are reliefs depicting chaotic scenes when Quito has been hit by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. A statue of Neptune sits serenely in the middle. The bell tower - highest in Quito is rumoured to be haunted. This is free to enter on Sundays.
