Avail of some of the free walking tours from Community or Secret garden hostel. Another goes from Plaza San Blas. Great orientation tours. Be mindful of possessions - can be dangerous in non - policed areas.

To understand Latin America you must know first its history. In Quito/Ecuador occurred some important passages of the South America independence history, with famous pioneers like Simon Bolivar and Eugenio Espejo who lived there. Discover that was exciting! Quito remains within the old center that story. We walked through the narrow streets, ate traditional food, visited cultural centers, museums, palaces and convents with many ancient legends, like the Cantuña tell. We learned Spanish in a fantastic school calls Andes Lingua, that organized activities for foreigners to know more about the city, in fact we want to recommend that school, not only because its high work level classes, but because the many interesting people we met, who are close to the historical memory like the 'Quito Eterno' project.
The food is delicious and cheap, there will always be someone playing a guitar, singing pasillos at the central park doing nothing else haha, colorful crafts, and people very friendly and easy. Highly recommended!

Quito is a must see city in Ecuador. Beautiful architecture, lots of history and great food. Make sure you arrange your visit of the city with a good tour guide.

We booked this tour which began at 4PM with transportation from our B and B through Gulliver Expeditions. We loved the guide who spoke excellent English and the sites and the route of the tour. The tour ended in the beautifully lighted cathedral area. We were so enamored with La Ronda and were the only 4 clients, so the van driver took us back to that area for dinner.

Very clean, safe, illuminated and organized. Take a guided tour or walk by yourself through the churches, museums and old constructions.
