$2 US to climb/walk above the vaulted ceiling, then onto the roof where you can climb up a steep ladder onto a spire. Great views, something different.

One of the best places to visit in Quito. Stunning architecture. You are allowed to climb up and through the catwalks over the tall ceiling in order to access the high towers where yu can talk the nauseating walk up an outdoor staircase to a pinnacle high above to get a breathtaking look at Quito. Or clink up the stairs of one of the two clock towers for a different vantage point. I am petrified of heights so I felt it was my duty to climb up those steps. It was easier going up than going down but I am at my computer telling you about it. The rosette stained glass is another high point. You can get up close and personal.

As you look out over the south of the city If you are here you can see the Virgin at El Panecillo and vice versa, this cathedral is the high point of the city as you look out on the city from El Panecillo. Try to enjoy both.

Wonderful views of the city and rare opportunity to climb way up to the clock and bell towers in this old church. Can even walk above the construction of the naves, which was kind of spooky but interesting. One local gringo warned us of thieves in the area but we didn't have an issue, though were on guard and visited during the daytime.

The best things about the Basilica are its twin towers. You can climb to the top for a great view of the city, walk above the vaulted roof of the church or even, if you really dare, climb the outside ladders to get inside the back tower.

There is a great café above the second level where you can have a drink and snacks whilst admiring the city scape.

It’s not really worth visiting the main church as it’s not that interesting and, besides, you have a complete overview of the interior from the gallery of the towers.

Beautiful cathedral and great view from the towers. Loved walking above the arches and seeing the beautiful stained glass windows up close.
