Yet another peruvian-suhshi arrival does make a good case for the best sushi in the capital of ecuador. Ironically, it is the non-traditional sushi that makes this restaurant good, as it is the sushi-like peruvian dishes that really stand out, in particular the tiraditos. The maki themselves are creative and provide a variety of different tastes and textures, but tend to be over-sauced and on the heavy side, which taste great but take away from one of the great things about sushi, it's lightness. And while the sashimi and nigiris are nothing out of the ordinary, but it still is among the more remarkable places in town that makes sushi.

Great food, however I liked most the service. I strongly recommend to ask for suggestions to the manager before you order. He was extremely kind and helpful. We could try both, Peruvian and Japanese dishes.

On our second visit, we thoroughly enjoyed a variety of excellent maki, and our only slight criticism is that the sauces are just a bit on the heavy side, and thus overwhelmed the seafood and fish components. That noted, our meal was delightful and satisfying, the service friendly and helpful, and the presentation fabulous. We got there too late for an outdoor table so we chose a table for two near the sushi bar, and watching the prep pyrotechnics made me realize for the first time why people (with money to burn of course) pay a substantial additional charge to sit at sushi bars as opposed to tables in Japan. We ordered a maki platter for two, but it was suggested that we order half rolls instead of full rolls which was the best way to sample Edo´s wonderful variety. There is some pretty intense competition for sushi in Quito, and right now I would say that Edo leads the pack. I agree with the reviewer who said that this would be a top-notch sushi joint in NY or anywhere, and of course far more reasonably priced down here in Ecuador. Good going, Edo! Felicitaciones.

Edo could be one of the very best sushi restaurants in NYC but it's in Quito Ecuador. The quality of the sushi is unparalleled! The sauces accompanying many sushi and sashimi are reminiscent of Nobu with an occasional touch of Douglas Rodriguez. They have combined the preparation of fine Japanese fish dishes with the best of the Peruvian ceviche traditions. Over the past several months we have been there three times and will return whenever we are in Quito. The design of the restaurant is authentically & soothingly Japanese with a pergola covered dining terrace outside. Our last meal there was during a cloud burst that the transparent covering of the pergola weathered fine. What a pleasure to eat at Edo!
