In the heart of the Historical District of Quito (an UNESCO World Heritage Site) you will find the oldest barrio of Quito: San Roque.
This 2 1/2 hour tour of the barrio is one of the best experiences I've had in this beautiful city. Visitors get to meet local artisans in their shops and experience these handicrafts that have been passed down through the generations. Everyone is friendly and your community host will give you a personal insight into the history of the barrio and the culture it has today.
It's centered around the beautiful Plaza San Francisco and is easy to get to. Their website actually works and you can easily make reservations.
Come prepared to walk, explore, meet new people and buy some special gifts. This is an easy tour to take for everyone of all ages and cultures.
Tours vary in price depending on whether or not you need a translator but a typical tour will be around $8/person, well worth the price and so much more!
