Eugenia Hotel is exquisite -- beautiful iron work, ceiling mural, marble, art deco details, stunning petite bar. And the staff are friendly and tried their best to be helpful.
BUT... can't get a good night's sleep. One night we had an "inside" room with a window on to the interior staircase. Noise echoed into our room ALL night long. Even if we closed the window (which made the room hot and stuffy) the sounds still echoed in. The second night we stayed there we have an "outside" room -- where we got the noise from the street all night long.
ALSO, technically, the Hotel has a bar and a restaurant. Neither appeared open but we tried. When we sat down at the bar, the young doorman did his best with a rum and coke and a glass of wine, but clearly had no clue. The wine I selected was not available so was brought the house wine -- which was undrinkable. No food in the bar so we walked our drinks across to the restaurant that didn't appear open. The same young man appeared and we did get food, but felt we were putting people out by using the restaurant.
I bet there are better options in Quito. (Which is unfortunate because Hotel Eugenia has amazing potential)More
