Eugenia Hotel is a great stop in Quito. We were there for 3 days. It is a boutique hotel with a colonial flair and beautiful European décor. The outside is just a white building but you will be impressed with the interior. The guest rooms are small but we weren't there to spend our day in the room. The front desk staff is great and extremely helpful with our poor Spanish. They are knowledgeable and helpful with excursion recommendations, with restaurants and things to see in the area. This hotel is not close to the new Airport but few of them are. They are located in the edge of the tourist district, close to the historical district and the different artisan markets. You can make Eugenia your home base and walk or taxi ride for $2.00-$5.00 anywhere you want to go. We even caught the transit bus out to Mitad del Mundo. Great place to stay and explore Quito.

Hotel Eugenia is nestled in the newer part of Quito, close to lots of restaurants and cafes. While the room was smaller than anticipated, the staff were very friendly and the hotel generally pleasing. The daily breakfast buffet had a nice selection of fruits, baked goods and hot items. The hotel is not that old, but shows some wear in the carpets in the rooms, but is clean and fairly quiet, despite it's close proximity to a main artery. (Considering you're in the heart of the city.) We found it walkable to the old town' but some people may find it a ways out. They must have made improvements to the WiFi, as we had no issues at all.

We stayed one night at Hotel Eugenia. Our room was broken into when we went to dinner. All our bags had been opened up and dumped out. The result wasn't as bad as it could have been, but our ipad and DSLR camera had been stolen ($1,400). We were flabbergasted, as we decided to stay at this hotel because of the security. Turns out the hotel was only 10% occupied (6 rooms), and nobody was let in the hotel since we left (There is a security gate and security guard). This led us to believe it had to have been an employee of the hotel or another guest. Of course the manager immediately insisted that it wasn't an employee, but who knows. We asked for a refund for the room, but were scoffed at....? And were told that we should have put our things in a safe. Problem is the safe wan't big enough to fit our ipad or camera. I do not recommend this hotel. There are a lot of great hotels in Quito, and price does not necessarily reflect quality. Do some research online or ask to see the rooms before you book...and always keep your passport with you.

The staff was very good always helpful full of ideas. Breakfast was included with the room and they had everything you would want with it Our room was very clean the beds were too but the carpet was showing it's age. It's in a very good area with many restaurants near by of all kinds. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel kinda felt like home away from home. Price was very good too.

Room Tip: We had a good view but it would have been better on the higher floors

The hotel locked up the gate when I arrived at like 10 pm. A staff came out promptly to open the gate for me. The staff were all friendly. The room door lock didn't look sturdy, same kind of lock people used in household bathrooms. The hotel setting and room looked worn out but overall it was clean. The shower was hot enough. Internet reception was very very bad. I couldn't get online at all. The breakfast buffet got eggs, fresh fruit, bacon, bread, fresh fruit juice, coffee and tea; good value for a US$69 fare. The location was pretty good, with Burger King around the corner and McDonald's within 5-minute walk. The hotel was close to some major brand names such as JW Marriott and Holiday Inn, where you could be picked up by group tour shuttles such as Gray Line Tours. The hotel is good for layover type of stay. For romantic trip, pay more and go for elsewhere.

Please consider trying this small, quaint city hotel. It has a beautiful porch to sit at night, comfortable rooms, a cute pub, and a kind staff. It has the feel of an English country home in the middle of Quito, Ecuador. And GREAT breakfast of local foods!

Room Tip: There are cute corner rooms available overlooking the volcano Avenue.

This was a delightful stay. The staff was very friendly. The architectural design was fabulous! It was a bit of a drive from the airport, but once we were settled, it was worth it! The food was delicious. They have computers for you to use or you can use your own with wireless. I would recommend this for your stay. The attention to detail was a welcomed addition.
