Quaint hotel that is convenient to sights, many within walking distance. Staff was friendly and very helpful with needs and questions. Breakfast was tasty offering a variety of foods. The hotel had a charming quality.

We stayed here twice in February 2013. Clean, great breakfast. Lots of fresh fruit, juices and the hot chocolate with cinnamon was the best we tasted in Equador. location is great for walking to restaurants etc at night. Staff friendly and always willing to help.

First, the hotel arranged for a cab from the airport that costs at least 4 times as much than if we got our own cab (which we did). I might expect them to charge a slight premium but not 400%!
Then the first room they put us in was like a dungeon, no windows, tiny and smelly. Not what you'd expect for $200.00 per night (when a very decent place could be had for $40.00).
They switched us to another room when we complained, also no windows but a little less smelly. That room was 2 floors so it felt less claustrophobic. Keeping the doors open helped with the smell.
Then they recommended a tour guide. He charged an outrageous $150.00 to essentially drive up to the statue of Mary overlooking the town and then walk us 6 blocks along the street where the hotel was. (When we passed a storefront with party supplies out front he said: "That's where we get our party supplies"-yes, it was that kind of tour!
It was a total ripoff, and I suspect the so-called guide shared the spoils with the hotel staff who referred him to us. We took the hop-on, hop-off tourist bus the next day which was a much more comprehensive tour -and costing a mere $12.00 each!
The courtyard in the hotel is impressive -but you could go there for dinner or drinks at their restaurant to experience being in that environment.

Charming hotel, great location in historical Quito. Walking distance to park, San Francisco plaza, many restaurants. The room was immaculate - on two levels, with the bathroom upstairs. The rooms center around an open courtyard which is also the dining room. The staff was helpful and courteous. Enough people spoke English so we managed to communicate. The food at the hotel was reasonably priced, well presented, and delicious.

Right in the heart of Quito Old Town, this hotel couldn't be better placed. Charming, old colonial in style, centred round a closed in courtyard. Staff friendly and very helpful. The hotel really 'made' our stay in Quito. Some rooms do not have windows, but this did not detract from our stay, and some are on 2 levels with a balcony overlooking the restaurant.

Beautiful place, in a historical palace, with a wonderful patio. I would return there tomorrow! Also the position is quite good! We had dinner inside the patio and food was very good, with typical local dishes. Staff was very helpful.
