This was our first hotel in our first trip to Ecuador. The Hotel was kind enough to send a driver to pick us up at the Airport and take us directly to the Hotel. We were greeted by two friendly doormen who carried our bags from the car to the front desk, and ultimately to our rooms on the top floor. The check in was seamless and friendly. We walked through the dining room to great smells and a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff of the hotel were extremely friendly and accommodating, glad to talk to you about their city, culture, etc. The food was pretty good, the Ecuadorian fare being new to us. Our room was spacious with all the amenities we were used to. The hotel was located very near the cultural center of the city and we could walk to the many places we visited. The staff became enthusiastic partners in our effort to rescue a Quito street dog, now living in Cuenca and named Frankie II!

We loved our stay here! The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. The courtyards were a quiet oasis from the busy streets outside. The rooms were clean and lovely. The restaurant was fantastic! Highly recommended.

Everything up to standard and very comfortable but the helpfulness and enthusiasm of the staff was superb. Brealkfast, which was included, was great with some unique and exotic fruits, a good buffet and the kitchen would prepare whatever else you wanted! The unlimited coffee was also excellent.Thank you for a very enjoyable stay!

Our family of 4 stayed here for two nights on our way to the Galapagos Islands. We wanted a hotel that gave us the local flavor (Colonial Spanish, not an Americanized Hilton) and this was right on the mark. The beautiful courtyard was perfect for breakfast (included) and the room was so unique with the loft upstairs for our children while my husband and I shared the giant king-sized bed downstairs. The only negative was navigating the spiral staircase in the middle of the night to go the bathroom.

On the first night, by the time our flight landed after 11pm, we went through customs and took the 50 minute ride (at that time of night NO traffic, so not the typical 1.5 hour drive) we arrived around 12:30. There were two men working in the reception. They were so helpful. We knew we wanted to take a tour of the city the next day but didn't know what time we would feel like it. They ran us through all the different tour packages and sent us to our room with the booklet and told us we could arrange for it the next morning, which they did.

All this for a fraction of the cost of the neighboring Casa Gangotena & Hotel Plaza Grande which I'm sure are lovely, but outside our budget.

The set-up and design of the Patio Anduluz was a huge surprise to us. It was an actual Historical site with some 500 years of history behind it, and the Hotel takes pride in explaining this to its guests by way of a leaflet in the room.

The Hotel rooms and suites in 2 or 3 floors are situated around two courtyards. which are now roofed. These courtyards serve as the Restaurant and an "outdoor" bar. The rooms themselves are delightful. We got the split level units-which had the lounge area on the lower floor and the bedroom, wardrobe area and the washroom up a wooden flight of stairs on the next level. The whole unit was connected by a high level "atrium" giving a most spacious feeling. The provisions in the room were nice toiletries and comfortable towels.

On the service level, everything was top-notch. At reception, smiles everywhere and helpful advice. At the restaurant, warm service (though the welcome drink took too long to come, I think!). At the bar, a most enthusiastic barman (with some injured finger, so you know who I mean!).

And the location is a dream! Just metres away from the Plaza Grande and the loads of churches and squares of the Old City. What more can we want from a Hotel??

Room Tip: They say the road side rooms can be noisy, but we did not feel that. Ask for inside rooms if you like.
