“Lovely hotel made better by hearing Trio Santino, who were superb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2010

A quite lovely hotel near the main square. Beautiful room, and we were well looked after. The food was excellent and the whole aspect of the hotel was charming and felt real ... very historic. My absolute joy was hearing Trio Santino ... and, if I am right about the name, especially listening to Juan Carlos Sarango play lead or first guitar ... he was brilliant!

Patio Andaluz is a great hotel. It is located in the heart of the old colonial part of the city, which is where all the best sights are and much more interesting than the horrible new town.

The hotel is based around 2 inner courtyards, 1 of which is the restaurant where excellent food is served throughout the day.

I've heard that there are rooms without windows so we specifically asked for one with windows and we got a fantastic room with a double aspect with one side looking straight at the gothic style basilica.

The decor is wonderful with wooden furnishings throughout. The bathroom had a funky shower cubicle with lots of buttons which we weren't entirely sure how to operate. Bathroom is on the small side, but it has everything you need.

The entire hotel is spotless and as we were on the top floor we had less road noise - which is almost unavoidable in Quito.

The service was very good from start to finish. Courteous and extremely willing to help. I would definitely stay here again if I ever went back to Quito.

Finally, they serve the best Aji in Ecuador!

This hotel's main draw is its location in Quito's Centro Historico. It is just two blocks from the main plaza and convenient to all the old town's attractions. Stay here if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing in the area on foot; do not use this as a base if you are not interested in the city's colonial past. The old town's streets were not designed for traffic and it takes forever to get in and out of the area by car. Also, the area is rather dead at night. The hotel itself is attractive with rooms facing interior courtyards. The layout keeps the street noise out, but unfortunately, in our room, also kept the daylight out. The room was large and comfortable, but rather gloomy; it could have used more and/or brighter lighting. Unlike most places we have stayed at in Ecuador, breakfast here was not included and I would not recommend having breakfast at the hotel. It is served buffet style and orders from the kitchen took an inordinately long time to come out. Even though only two or three tables were occupied, an order of bacon and eggs took 25 minutes to find its way to the table! The wait staff of three seemed bored and uninterested. As a final note, I would mention that the rate I was quoted by calling the hotel directly was a full $100 less than the rate quoted on the website! In short, a good base for touring old Quito. I would not recommend staying here otherwise.

This is a charming and beautiful hotel. It's built in the Spanish style, as is much of the old town quarter of Quito. It has "patios" or courtyards on the inside, which have now been turned into parts of the hotel, including the dining room and an atrium.

It's beatuifully decorated, centrally located. The staff are very helpful. We weren't really sure what to expect and we were so pleased to be in such a beautiful, comfortable place. There are concierge desks in the lobby for information and everyone is friendly.

We stayed there 2 nights on a Galapagos Cruise Tour and we were delighted with the hotel.

We stayed three separate nights at the Patio Andaluz and found it to be excellent. Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean, with huge beds, satellite TV and good bathrooms. There was a certain rustic charm about the rooms which felt thoroughly authentic! A couple of nights we were given great rooms with two floors, spiral staircase and balcony. The courtyard spaces are really pleasant and eating there felt almost al-fresco. Staff were very, very friendly, multilingual, and couldn't do enough to help. We stored our bags for seven days and three days separately and they did this securely and free of charge. The Old Town and main square are right outside and the Hotel is convenient for many of the Old Town's best restaurants. I really don't understand the few negative comments on Tripadvisor, especially about price ($80 expensive?...I don't think so!). Dinner and breakfast were also of great quality. A recommended stop in Quito.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in total in November 2009. We stayed in three different rooms.
The rooms were always clean, spacious and well furnished with good sized bathrooms and comfy beds. However two of them had very little natural light, inasmuch as one of the corners of the room was squared off with glass from floor to ceiling ( I was also quite concerned about the safety of this glass as I had read that safety standards for glass are not as high as they are in the UK). The area above the squared off section was open to the light and this was the only daylight in the room. The third room was at the top of the hotel and had plenty of natural light. In one of the corners of this room was what I thought was a wardrobe door but when I pulled it it came off exposing a floor to ceiling gap of about 1 foot between the walls which was open to the outside.
The food in the restaurant was of a very good standard.
The hotel was very clean and well furnished in general.
All the staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly and I appreciated this as this was our first visit to Ecuador.
As many other reviews state it is is a very good position to visit Quito old town, and the taxi rides to and from the hotel to other parts of the City enabled us to see other aspects of Quito.

This is a very beautiful hotel with "modern old world charm". Lost an excellent from me because it was not smoke free and you could smell it, at times, in the rooms from the atrium. Very good food with live entertainment.
