This hotel is centrally located in Old Town Quito. The rooms are very clean & tidy with big screen TV. The courtyard is very quaint & a great place to meet fellow travelers. This meeting place is also the problem. If you stat here make sure you request a room away from the courtyard and not backing onto the street. If you are staying on the courtyard you will hear everything that goes on there! Not good when you have a 4am departure and need some sleep!

The location for this hotel is amazing - right in the Historic Centre, close to all attractions, on a pretty and safe street. The staff are fantastic and helpful. The hotel is very pretty, with a courtyard and a nice lounge area with two internet-connected computers. You get breakfast with your stay, though it's just (runny) scrambled eggs, fresh juice, bread and some spreads. You can order more for a price. The rooms are VERY different - if they're in or near the courtyard, the phone ringing all night to let people in is very loud, as is the noise from the street and lounge. The higher-up rooms are much quieter, though some do not have windows and cell reception. Definitely recommended, but try to pick your room!

First I must mention the reception staff. They are wonderful and very helpful and made all the difference to our stay. Well done, you are a credit to the hotel. As mentioned by other reviewers the rooms are very variable. The first time we stayed - before heading off to the Galapagos - we had a corned room consisting of two adjacent rooms with a bed in each. There was no window and the only natural light was through the grill in the door. It also had the most noisy creaking beds I have every known. The second time, the room was more normal and above reception which could be very noisy with early morning departures.
The main negative for the hotel was breakfast. It would have been better to state it is not included as it really degrades the rest of the hotel service. It consists of some watery juice, cold weak coffee and then you are handed the portion of bread (a slice of stale bread or a roll) a small portion of butter and a scraping of jam in an almost empty jar. During our stay one day butter was not forthcoming and another day they had no jam so just eat dry bread .....there is even a supermarket next door to the hotel!!!! There is a menu to purchase additonal items but I never saw anyone taking them up on this. Tip :- go elsewhere for an enjoyable breakfast or purchase basics from the supermarket next door

The location of the hotel is splendid, and the hotel has a nice atmosphere. However, make sure to get a reservation of a room on the second patio. Our first room on the first patio was small, noisy and had no daylight. The room on the second patio (upstares) was spatious and newer. Friendly staff, good breakfast.

We've stayed here both in 2007 and in 2012/13. The location is great, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the room we always choose is fantastic value. As in most colonial hotels in Ecuador some of the rooms don't have windows to the outside because the original court yard is covered. I don't like that. But if you ask for a suite or a room in one of the higher levels you get windows. We stayed in the honeymoon suite both times. It is huge, has a small balcony and panoramic windows overlooking the beautiful tile roofs and cgurch towers of the colonial city. It also has a large fridge and some kitchen facilities. A great place to stay with a kid.
The breakfast is not fantastic, but pretty average for midrange hotels in Ecuador.

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite is excellent.

Charming and homey, right in the heart of Quito - what more could you want? Well, unless you are here to party and hang out with other tourists, then by all means stay in new town, which we found tacky and over-priced. Okay, evening meals are reportedly a little harder to find in Old Town, but La Ronda barrio is just 2-3 blocks away from this hotel with a wide selection of quaint restaurants.

My spouse and I stayed here at the beginning of our Ecuador trip, and had a lovely stay for three nights. The hotel is one of the few budget-friendly places we could find in Old Town, which we preferred to seedy, tourist-y New Town. The hotel is old and exudes charm, with nooks and crannies to explore. The courtyard is a pleasant place to use the computers or read or play cards, and our room was quiet, peaceful, and cute. We had hot water the first two mornings, but the third morning it was cold- we did see a very large group at breakfast that morning, so I wonder if that had something to do with it. Overall, a charming place and very comfortable, and a much more unique and memorable place than a chain hotel. Splurge for the honeymoon suite!

Room Tip: We paid more for the honeymoon suite, because it seemed special and because even with the extra it i...
