Description: Our restaurant is located in Quito's Historical Center on the second floor of Sucre National Theater, Cultural Patrimony from the XIX century, an expression of renaissance classicism. In the entire second floor it is located the most important restaurant in Quito, THEATRUM Restaurant & Wine Bar that offers an extraordinary menu of the vanguard Mediterranean cuisine. One of our emblematic dishes is the Grilled tender octopus with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, garlic tossed in pesto vinaigrette. Our classic Ecuadorian prawns on the grill with avocado mousse and tomato fondue.

We only stopped for wine, dessert and espresso. All were handled perfectly in this gorgeous setting. We'll definitely return for almuerzo. It is a little pricey for Quito but seems to be worth it.

This upscale option on the 2nd floor of the Teatro Sucre offers a nicely-appointed dramatic dining space with floor to ceiling, deep red curtains and views of the plaza below. The food certainly holds it own as well. I had the 3-course tasting menu (although 2 starters and 2 entrees were included in each course) for an extremely attractive $44, certainly an amazing value compared to prices in similar metropolitan venues. The presentations and flavors were very good and were well worth it. My wife enjoyed the restaurant's take on a pork rib dish. House wines by the glass were a little steep at $9 for this particular vineyard. Most tables were occupied, including a large party, by travelers rather than locals. Overall a nice, romantic experience that is worth seeking out.

We ate here on a quiet Sunday evening. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm, welcoming, and stylish. The vegetable tempura with the coconut sauce was a great start to our meal. We were then served a frozen strawberry popsicle standing in celery juice to cleanse our palate...it was delicious. Next we had the chicken breast with a blueberry sauce served with Gorgonzola ravioli in a cream sauce was outstanding! Our friend had steak served with mashed potatoes and vegetables and he was extremely pleased with the dish. For dessert we had the fruit plate which had five fruits fixed five different ways. The mini banana dessert served with chocolate sauce was a great finish to a wonderful evening!

This was one of the few restaurants open on Sunday for dinner in Old Town. Appetizers (particularly the grilled octopus) were delicious. Main courses were perfectly cooked and wine list was great. Service was excellent - most servers spoke great English which was helpful on our first night in South America.
