When I am in Quito and hungry for something I know will be good, I head to the Magic Bean. Prices are a bit high by Ecuadorian standards, but they offer something for everyone. The food is good, but not great. What is great is the variety of food and spot on service. They offer everything from pancakes to nachos, vegetarian paninis to brownies. Of course you can get a decent hamburger here as well as chicken, steak or shrimp. The internet as been down at my hotel all weekend, something quite common here. As I write this I am munching on a spinach and cheese omelette with toast and drinking fresh blackberry juice....AND surfing the web at super speed. I think I'll order an iced coffee to finish things off.
