Yes, this is a good hotel, with great owners, but keep a few things in mind:
a. some of the rooms are within the complex. This means that your windows only open onto walkways - no street air or view.
b. the old windows and doors don't catch any noise. You will hear the slightest discussions, passage, etc... Mind you at 10 pm, everyone seem to turn in.
c. your windows being right on the walkways, people can easely peek in if they are open.
d. We had bathrooms next to another with very thin walls. If you like your potty privacy, think again.
So, if you are a light sleeper, like full privacy and like to have a window that opens onto the street, think again about staying here. But again: great staff, good breakfast, cleanliness.

A converted mansion in the heart of the historic district of Cuenca, this boutique hotel offers a variety of differently furnished bedrooms (en suite) that surround a beautiful courtyard. Each come with a wonderful breakfast, TV and Internet access (wi-fi). The staff could not have been more helpful -- they assisted me in making travel arrangements and reservations for other hotels in other Ecuadorian locations. The rooms were comfortable and clean and had the feel of returning home rather than returning to the hotel. All this plus romantic and charming at a budget price. Wow!

We stayed for 5 nights and found this to be a most wonderful place. The Ordonez family runs the hotel, which has been in the family for 104 years. It has been lovingly restored and each room is named for one of the Aunts so they all have lovely names like Isabel, Eugenia...etc. The second floor has a lovely gallery overlooking the courtyard/dining room and there is a lounge upstairs for reading or watching TV or one of the many movies (DVDs) they have collected. Inez is ever helpful and friendly, Alberto is a wonderful host and a very interesting fellow and Senora Ordonez is the most gracious lady you could ever hope to meet. Recommendations for sights and restaurants were excellent (be sure to eat at Tiestos) and be sure to ask Alberto to have Fabian take you out into the countryside. He is most entertaining. The people here made our trip a wonderful experience.

This hotel is a real Gem. The staff go out of their way to make your stay absolute bliss. My parter was ill for a portion of our stay there and Alberto, Inez, Diana and Mrs. Ordonez went to the pharmacy for us, offered to call doctors, cooked him chicken soup and brought him tea in our room.

The rooms in this old colonial home is so charming with excellently apointed rooms with ensuites that have great water pressue and hot water. The breakfasts are great (eggs, fruit, yogurt, bread, croisants, tea/coffee and fresh juice) and served in the courtyard/atrium).

We wholehartedly recomend staying in this hotel.

My wife and I just completed a 12 day stay at Casa Ordonez and from the time we checked in to check out we felt welcomed.

The owners (Alberto, Inez, Diana and Mrs. Ordonez) along with the staff will do everything in their power to make your stay comfortable and friendly. If you need assistance in finding a place for dinner, transportation, seeing the sights or what ever, they do their best to help. The breakfast is overseen by Mrs. Ordonez and there were always some different things and was always good.

The hotel is in a house that is over 100 years old and has been in the family for many many years. While the house is 100 years old, the updates (new plumbing, electrical and internet) make it a modern hotel. We loved the feel of the house and as previously mentioned totally enjoyed our stay. With the location about 2 blocks from the Centre Square walking around is enjoyable.

This was our second trip to Cuenca and our first to Casa Ordonez and we highly reccomend the hotel.

What a great place to stay. This beautifully restored family mansion is charming and comfortable. Breakfasts included eggs and homemade croissants and jam. The Ordonez family absolutely went out of their way to be helpful, including helping us with ongoing reservations, finding information we requested about local sites, even inviting us to a Superbowl party. Our stay couldn't have been better.

Our diverse party of 5 included residents of London, Andalucia and Portland, Oregon, ranging from 41 to 67, with widely divergent interests (handicrafts, roast pig, real estate, ruins, thermal baths, hiking, chocolate and tropical fruit) and the Ordonez family couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we found everything we were after. Our rooms were charming, and carefully assigned to give us the right balance of proximity and privacy (so important on a family trip). They really were the most thoughtful hosts, and we look forward to visiting them again.
