Cuenca is beautiful. The inn has beautiful, old wooden floors and stairs which simply means that sound travels; therefore, bring ear plugs. Friendly English speaking staff with good directions. Breakfast was convient, nutritious, timely, basic & boring. We had a room overlooking the river - totally worth it; however, there is a brick street running between inn and river. Don't forget your sweater for the mornings- no heat in the inn (nor in majority of houses in Cuenca). Steps into old town were "thought-provoking." PLEASE consider going to Cajas National Park-incrediable! Ecuador is amazingly diverse - from the highlands to the jungles to the beaches.
