There may be better rooms on the top floor but we were given a room directly across from the reception area. This room was noisy and has a very bright flood light pointed at the windows making it difficult to sleep .There wasn't any hot water in the evening only in the morning.we were told our room could not be changed so instead of staying for 6 nights as planned we checked out and found better accommodations. This hotel does have a good location and the staff was pleasant. The breakfast was only OK and took forever to be prepared.Overall this was not a good experience.

Villa Nova has available 12 comfortable bedrooms to offer. The majority have an amazing river view, and others are intern rooms; however, the ones which are across the reception very good ones with an incredible view to the Tomebamba river. Our rooms have private bathrooms with hot water all the time, may be in that occasion there was a specific problem, but that shouldn’t be something that we could not solve. Besides, on May we started to serve breakfast at our place, so we were adjusting to it. We have improved a lot in the preparation of breakfast, as well in our services.

Stayed in two different rooms at this hotel.
One is a big room upstairs called Tomebabma (yes, each room at this hotel has its own name). The room had a king size bed and a bunker bed. Huge bathroom (which I found a bit outdated and in need of renovation, but whatever...). It's a river view room and the rambling of the river totally masked any noise from outside.
Another room was on a first floor, also river view. It was a much smaller room with a small and dinky bathroom. But it was still ok.
The location of the hotel is superb.
They have very good showers with great pressure.
TV/cable in each room.
All of the hotel staff speaks very good English.
My room cost me $30 including breakfast which was served at the next door sushi restaurant.
Very decent price, considering the location.

This charming and quirky little hotel is a gem, most especially thanks to Andres and his most helpful, efficient staff. They all went out of their way to make things easy and comfortable. While I was there, another guest had to spend a night in a local hospital unexpectedly. Andres gave her his personal cell number and other staff were most solicitous.

I opted out of the included breakfast (and got a couple bucks off the room rate), but now that they're sending guests up to Bananas for breakfast, I'd definitely take advantage of that.

If I visit Cuenca again, I'll definitely stay here.

If you are open to new environments and understand the importance of the people you met then stay here. Even before I arrived got recommentation for other places to stay in Ecuador from Andres the manager. They were also excellent. Place was warm, inviting, charming - even squeeky floors. All of staff made the stay great. Got recomendation for restaurant and it was amazing meal. With the windows open and air fresh, sound and sight of the river, spacious room and very large shower with great water. Beds were very comfortable, pillows a bit hard. Price was excellent. GREAT PLACE - PICK IT AND ENJOY

Had the absolute good fortune to stay two nights at different times at the Villa Nova Inn in Cuenca. Great location and price, but the service of the owner Andres Neira and his staff of John, Gustavo and Andrea, really made the stay worth writing about. Nothing but First Class. Only drawback, and it is small, Inn is located on street next to river and you get some traffic noise, but usually by 10:00 p. m. it has died down substantially. Very good rates that include continental breakfast. Hope to get back someday.
