“A Huge Disappointment”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

All we 've heard for months is that you have to go to Tiesto's. Well we did and walked away very disappointed.Meet friends there and we ended up with a huge bill that did not equate to the average food that was served. The ambiance is wonderful and the owner is Mr. Personality Plus, however those two factors could not override the very pricey menu and the disappointment in the quality of the meals served to our group. There are far better choices in Cuenca for both food as well as price.Tiesto also does not have a very extensive menu.I leave my recommendation to this restaurant open ended.Simply go and draw your own conclusions.

“Very nice ambient with live music.”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

The restaurant has a nice ambient, with live music, decorated with Ecuadorian hand crafts. The waiters are fast, friendly and handling with a high standard. The meals are not cheap comparing to other Restaurants, but the standard is pretty high. I was really amazed by the different salsas, in total 10. The vino de la casa was also pretty good. But they also have a decent selection of different vines.

“This is a wonderful restaurant”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We had dinner at this great restaurant in Cuenca. The food was up to American standards for start to finish. One of the great items is all the wonderful sauces that arrive with your meal. If you go to the restaurant look at the salsa display. Second item that was a great experience was the desserts. The owner paints the plate in a design with different sauces. It looks like a high end designer painting. Please get up from your table and watch him prepare the plate. The cost for the meal was about $30.00. Tiesto's is located in the center of Cuenca and easy to find. Try this place and you will not be disappointed.

“Wonderful food, a must in Cuenca”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

When we first went to Tiestos I was not sure about what to expect. Our friends had recommended the place, but we ha to try it to make up our minds. As soon as we got there and they brought us 5 little clay bowls with different sauces (two hot/sweet sauces, one really hot sauce, a mild sauce, and chimichurri) with a sliced baguette, we started to believe all of the stories. The menu is very complete, and the owner and head chef, Juan Carlos is always happy to recommend the best combinations. I strongly suggest that you trust in him and order whatever he recommends, he knows what goes where and with what. This restaurant is a must.

“Artistic food by a true culinary artist”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I have only been to Tiestos once on my last night in Cuenca but I plan to go back as soon as possible. Tiestos offers an eclectic and colorful ambiance that is exotic but the quality and artistic presentation of the food and especially the desserts were truly creative works of culinary artistry. The entrees of hot pot shrimp and the medallions of beef were my favorites but nothing compared to the cake we had for dessert. The owner/chef Juan Carlos took time to chat with us and as I expressed interest in his food art he demonstrated how it was done while I videotaped the process. The video which is entertaining will be uploaded to Youtube soon but to fully enjoy the experience you have to spend an evening at Tiestos. Yes it is pricey for Cuenca but worth it.
