We originally booked 2 nights but wanted to check out after a few hours. San Rafael is situated on a busy intersections and you can hear the traffic noise from every room.Upon arrival we were shown 2 rooms, one o. the street totally unacceptable and another without window and with 2 separate beds. We chose the latter, however in the afternoon there was some kind of street party starting and lasted until late at night. At around 11 pm the music turned into techno and we could hear everything even wearing ear plugs. We asked the staff for a different room but the choice was one next door with the same issue or a ground floor without windows again and next to the kitchen and reception. We decided yo sleep there as it was already late. The room smelled of mold. The next day we returned to our original room but at 2 pm when we came for a small siesta the street noise started again. We decided to leave immediately.
If you are noise sensitive I do not recommend this place. Even though it has a nice colonial deco and style, the floors make a lot of noise with every step and move. Breakfast was also very average:fruits or white toast bread with eggs. We moved to a lovely 5* Oro Verde outside of the noisy old town.
