Old cathedral of Cuenca is nowadays a museum. We found very interesting old photos - giving us an idea how citizens used to live in this town.

“Beautiful Cathedral”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2014

Great location, wonderful Spanish architecture. This area is very colonial and reminds me of Siena, Italy. It tends to rain often. Mass is conducted throughout the day.

“Museo Religioso”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014

Catedral Vieja (Museo Religioso) La Iglesia Matriz de Cuenca built in 1779. It did cost $1 to go in and I was allowed to take photos without flash. It was a very nice church and history. It was all on the ground floor without stairs so it is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

“Would that the organ was still used!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 December 2013

The cathedral is now "just" a museum - an incredible museum. Be sure to look up at the magnificent organ. The windows must have rattled when they played that!

“beautiful OLD church...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

amazing old church, has been restored to original...gorgeous restored pipe organ..during Dia de Disfuntos they had the catacombs open for viewing...they have a lovely carved wood model of what the 'new' cathedral was supposed to look like (although it didn't end up exactly as planned) and some lovely statues too!
