This hotel has many pros.
1. It's location is great (a block from the cathedral(s) - yes 2 - and tour bus stops, la calle larga, the riverwalk down Tomepamba river, not too far a walk from Pumapungo museum, etc)
2. their beds are very comfortable
3. their staff are polite and helpful
4. their breakfast is OK, although standard/repetitive, and nothing typical of the region

Cons, the noise level is too high for light sleepers. They have a restaurante located right outside your door, and music going on from noon till the last dinner guest leaves (about 11pm). They start cleaning up and putting away cutlery at around 7:30am.

If you are blessed with sleeping deeply, then this doesn't apply to you, and I would definitely recommend you stay here

Room Tip: Get their biggest room (quadruple occupancy?) their rooms with queen size beds are puny!!

This hotel is just one block away from the center of Cuenca. The hotel is an amazing repurposing of an old grand aristocratic house. The rooms are not modern and sterile, instead rather richly appointed. The Internet is fast and free. My bathroom had plenty of counter space. The breakfast is very nice. It's served in bistro area in the front of the hotel with freshly squeezed juices, eggs to order and lots of fruit. The staff went out of their way to make my stay perfect. The staff could not have been more courteous.

The very helpful Information center is one block away. Across the street is Fornace, a restaurant with a great lunch special ($5), and a beautiful inner courtyard itself. The cathedral and the famous ice cream shop, are again, just a block away.

Room Tip: Just remember there is no elevator at this hotel.

We stayed at The Santa Lucia for three nights as part of our Happy Gringo Tailormade Tour.
This Hotel is centrally situated and ideal for walking to many sights.
The Santa Lucia is a beautiful old Mansion restored into a gracious Hotel ,our room was upstairs(no elevator) large and tastefully decorated, it faced away from the busy street a comfortable King bed free drinking water filled daily and a large in room safe.
The breakfasts were varied and tasty . The main restaurant in the central courtyard also served very good food and the service was impeccable.

Wonderful old boutique hotel with modern upgrades. Helpful, friendly staff, willing to meet all requests. Good location, neat bar, excellent breakfasts. Within walking distance of most of the major cultural and historical sights.

Room Tip: Stay at the back, away from the street.

We stayed here for three nights as part of a package (with Journey Latin America) in May. Our large room was right at the top of this somewhat grand boutique hotel. Ideally placed in town with lots to see close by. As previous reviewers have stated the service is impeccable and all the staff extremely courteous and helpful. On our arrival we noticed the room had one of those plug in devices which perfumed the air, we duly switched off same and asked reception to ensure it was left like that for the duration of our stay. They did so. My husband needed to do some work while we were away, using his Apple Mac, but the service was not very good. He was able assisted by Cornelio Vintimilla who got the thing up and running. Thank you Cornelio. It was only later that we read in the hotel information that there was some problem with Apple in that they keep dropping out. We only had breakfast in the hotel, but the restaurant in the covered courtyard looked pretty amazing.

We stayed in a room upstairs on a street with a King Bed. We had "an upstairs" inside our room with two additional single beds (so would be good for people traveling with children).. We didn't use that space, with just the two of us. The room was very elegant and quaint, plenty of room inside. We had a big window facing the Old Town Street which was fantastic. We did get a little warm, so the hotel gave us a fan to use during our stay. (We can't figure out why everyone thinks Cuenca is cold??? We were there in late May, early June for 6 nights total. The bed was really comfortable too. We Loved the staff, very friendly and enthusiastic. Starting with Andres at the front desk, Mario in the Bar, Felix in the restaurant where we had breakfast, and Giovanny, the Maître d'hotel (who also waited on tables at times). Everyone was great and helpful. It was a great location to walk around, with ATMS, laundry, Beauty Salon within 1-3 minutes walk away. Other restaurants also close (within 10 minute walk). WIFI worked well. The evening restaurant was excellent, we ate there 3 times during our stay.

Room Tip: We were in Room 212. Really Great. One of two (I believe) corner suites facing Old Town.
