We stayed for 3 nights in a double room with private bathroom. On arrival late in the evening and with no reservation we were greeted with smiles and a 2 minute wait while they turned a room around for us. There wasn't one member of staff who wasn't lovely during our stay, they can't do enough for you. Beds are super comfy, bathrooms spotless, free wifi and computers and a perfect location. You feel very safe there too, the main door is always locked so no one can wander in. The only minor drawback is the traffic noise from the road outside but it certainly didn't ruin our stay. We had a great time!

We stayed in a double with private bathroom with a reduced rate for a longer stay. Really well maintained, bright, airy room, high ceilings, spotless. Lovely, friendly staff and a well stocked, if cold, outdoor communal kitchen. Highly recommended. NB, the single rooms and doubles with shared bath are fairly standard and nowhere near as nice. Worth paying the extra for a better room.

Los Andes B&B is the best hostel I stayed in Peru, and one of the best in South America.
At least for private rooms.
- The staff is helpful, polite, and kind.
- The rooms are huge, nice decorated, clean. Good shower with very hot water and big white towels. What you see at their site is what you get.
- The location is central (half a block from the main square), and still the hostel is quiet
- A lot of common areas with TV, DVD, computers, big kitchen
- Breakfast is good (fresh juice every day), though I would prefer something more than continental breakfast..
- The trips at the hostel are good and cheapper than at the travel agencies
- They have Spanish school which I heard is cheap and good

Room Tip: Book in advance as earlier as possible, since it is always full

Right in the heart of Arequipa, 2 minutes to the main square and opposite the most famous Inca mummy museum. Los Andes offers large rooms with bathroom which are nice and clean. Free internet is available in the main reception area, staff can book tours in and around Peru. The hostel is safe as you have to be buzzed into the building. You can leave your bags in the storage room if you plan to travel to colca canyon overnight. Staff are great and I would definately stay here again. The ony disappointment was breakfast which was minimal and you need to get there early to have a selection.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a huge hostel, with spacious common areas and dining area. The private rooms are enormous, simple but beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. The hostel felt very safe, and they offer secure luggage storage. However, the rooms with shared bathroom are tiny (basically enough room for a double bed and a chair), and don't have views over the street like the private rooms. The breakfast (included) is good with delicious fresh bread and jams and good coffee. More hostels should be like this!

Room Tip: Get a room with private bathroom!

From the time we arrived, until the time we left, Maria Inez Viscardo and her staff made our stay memorable. Our room was large and basic. The water was hot & plentiful. The location was only a block from the Plaza de Armas and 3 blocks from the Santa Catalina Monastery. Franz arranged everything for our trip to Colca Canyon. While we were gone the hotel stored our luggage for us. Breakfast was included and it was very basic with Coffee, tea or hot chocolate and hard rolls with butter and mermelade. The place was hopping with excitement and people traveling and passing on tips to others. There were numerous sitting areas complete with televisions. They have WIFI but if you can't connect with your own computer they also had free use of 3 computers with WIFI.

Room Tip: Ask for 203
