“Perfect location, direct on pedestrian street”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

Stayed 3 nights. Although it is called a hostal, service was perfect and it had all facilities needed. Laundry was delivered in the morning and back in the afternoon. Breakfast buffet rather basic, but OK. All rooms are behind a courtyard, so there is almost no nice from the busy pedestrian street just outside. 5 min. walk to main square with cathedral, etc.

A nice historic property really close to the centre of Arequipa. The public areas are nice but the rooms only average. Nevertheless they are clean and comfortable and I had no problems sleeping. The hotel is on a pedestrian street, so a short walk from wherever you get dropped off. There are plenty of shops and banks around so no issues in buying water and changing money. Overall a good experience and a good breakfast, would stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location. It is really close to the central square and in easy walking distance of all the main sights. There are lots of shops nearby to get water, snacks etc and a supermarket about 200m away.

It's in a beautiful old colonial building and felt nice and secure as you had to be buzzed through off the street.

When we stayed (May 2013) the rooms were being refurbished, so it is difficult to say what they may be like in future. We were in an old room and it was very basic and cold in the evening (no heating in the room). There is wifi and it was reasonably fast.

The buffet breakfast was very tasty and the staff kept replenishing everthing so there was plenty of food.

Overall I would say that this was a good value hotel (assuming you do not plan to spend loads of time in your room) and presumably will be more comfortable once the refurbishment is complete.

This hostal really has everything you need for an exceptional price. The rooms were clean, TV worked, buffet breakfast was delicious, and the owner was very friendly (and spoke english!). Not to mention that the lobby and breakfast area is in a super cool Spanish building from the colonial era (really beautiful!). Not many hotels/hostals can beat the location. Its right on a pedestrian friendly (pedestrian only!) street called Mercaderes and there is a lot of action (good action, that is) going outside. Restaurants, theaters, malls, markets, and the Plaza de Armas (one of the most beautiful in Peru) are either right next door or a short walk away. Even though there is a lot of people outside the hostal's doors, you don't hear any of it.
Overall, no need to pay expensive prices for other hotels when you can stay here!

Picturesque hotel in excellent location. Just a short walk to the main square and across from a bank for easy money withdrawal. The entrance and the main dining room with the volcanic rock and read bricks looked superb. We had a room at the back which I think is the better choice, as we heard no noise from people walking. There was however quite a bit of noise from building works next door, but this is not the hotels fault.

The breakfast was quite nice, with some ham and cheese choice, well worth the stay

We stayed here a few days on an extensive trip through Peru. The hotel is a very nice building that reminds me to an old spanish castle with beautiful Patio. Rooms are nice and clean and quiet, just be sure that you are not using the one(s) that are facing some disotheque. Breakfast ist OK and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For those concerned with safety - the entrance is always locked and opened for you by staff. A few minutes on the pedestrian zone to the Plaza de Armas, so right in the center of Arequipa. Definitely recommended.

This was my least favourite place to stay on my tour. There was no heating in the room & no extra bedding. It was very cold. The sun didn't hit the room at all. Other rooms probably didn't have this issue if they got the sun in the day.
The breakfast was uninspiring as well.
However, the beds were fine & the room was clean. The hotel itself was very nice and in theme with the town.
It's adequate, but I'd not stay there again.

Room Tip: A room with the sun in the day would be a bonus.
