Most hostels that I stayed at were fine places to sleep, but you really didn't want to hang around there during the day. The Casa de Avila on the other hand was a place where you could easily relax all day. The courtyard is a beautiful place to catch some rays while taking advantage of the free WiFi and enjoying the aromas coming from the cooking school. The staff were also great, getting me into my room at 7 AM after arriving on the night bus from Arequipa.

This place is by far the best hotel I have been to in Peru and Bolivia.
Here is my comments :
++ Nice garden with different kind of flowers, papyrus and long chairs to relax and meet other people
++ Price/quality, credit card accepted, breakfast included and free internet
++ nice staff
+ close to plaza de armas, a few blocks away
+ nice and very clean rooms
I found no negative points ...

Dear Celine B
Thank you very much for your review. We will do our best to receive a 5 points evaluation next time you visit us. We are always improving. New in Casa de Avila: now 30 more armchairs to enjoy. Most of them placed at the door of the rooms for you to go out, sit, and enjoy the view of the garden from your door.
Thanks again

Armando

My son and I did not stay here, but we took the cooking class that the hotel offered, which I found on line. The garden area and the cooking area were beautiful. The hotel staff were real friendly and of course we enjoyed the class. My son learned how to make Pisco Sours, which is the traditioinal peruvian drink.
After our class we walked to the Plaza de Armas, which was pretty close.

I stayed here for only one night but had a wonderful experience. The place is unbelievably beautiful with well maintined gardens and the rooms are very clean. Most importantly the staff is extremely hospitable. My father was sick and they went out of their way to make sure that he was taken care of. They offered him a place to lay down even though we had already checked out

The Garden is the number one reason to stay at this hotel. It's a perfect place to take a mid day break or wind down before dinner. The hotel sells a variety of reasonably priced drinks to enjoy there. There's even a resident tortoise. On top of this great amenity there is WiFi everywhere, computers for use, clean rooms, cable, nice staff, and a nice location a little ways away from the hustle and bustle of the square. It's no more than a 10 min walk to any restaurant of shop a tourist would want to visit. Breakfast is just bread, jam, tea, and coffee but you can order 2 eggs and bacon for 5 soles. A great deal in my opinion having stayed at 6 different during my time in Peru. They also offer a Peruvian cooking class. I didn't participate this time but will be back to stay again in a month. It looks great.

Stayed for four nights at end of our Peru tour. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and tidy. Our room could have done with a lick of paint, but you dont spend much time in the room when the garden is so large, inviting and comfortable. The std breakfast is a couple of rolls and cheese/jam, but you can order eggs etc at small extra cost. The hotel is 5 mins walk from main square. We enjoyed our stay, and found it great value for money.

Casa de Avila is a beautiful hostel with nice room. We stayed there when we had just arrived in Peru before and after we visited Colca Canyon for 4 day. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful to get everything organized without a tour.
