Wow! Where to start?? This hostel is amazing. Our triple room was very clean and cozy and had by far the best shower I ever had in Peru. Breakfast was nice with great terrace view. The staff of the hostel were beyond amazing and helped us during everything - starting Machu Piccu tickets and when we had trouble with our Colca Canyon tour. The location is amazing and we enjoyed our stay so so much! You cant find better in Arequipa.

We ended up spending most of our nights in Arequipa at this hotel because our experience was great.

However, do not get a room on the bottom floor. The one we had there was only decent while the others were excellent. Get a room facing El misti for excellent views, and if you can, her the lonely room on the top floor - very romantic!

Also, great service! The receptionist went above and beyond to get us a room for half a day more, as we had a bus in the evening and my gf was sick. There were no available rooms, but he discovered that one of the guests had reported they came in late, so we got to use that room.

Good location as well, charming breakfast area, and beautiful views of misti.

Would go again.

We stayed for five nights in a double room on the first floor, near to the terrace.
After moving fairly quickly through Copacabana, Isle deal sol and Puno we wanted somewhere to relax, warm up a bit and enjoy the city of Arequipa, Hostal Solar was perfect.
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable and the bed was warm. The bathroom was also clean and the water was hot.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, giving us sight seeing tips and booking a night bus to Cusco and arranging a taxi.
The hostal is in a great location, just around the corner from some great places to eat. (The American beer/burger place was my favourite). It's also only a few minutes walk from the Plaza.
The terrace is lovely and warm, a great place to relax.
Definitely recommend staying here.

Very well located in city center of Arequipa, just a stone throw from the Plaza de Armas and near plenty of restaurants, this cozy hostal offers exactly what you need for a short stay in Arequipa!
Great front-desk service, free pick-up from the bus station (they pay the taxi driver), clean rooms and great views of the Misti and Chachani.
Just to minor points: the breakfast, despite being good, should include the eggs instead of asking for extra payment (the rooms costs around 40 USD, and one-two eggs wont make any harm to their profit) and the laundry costs is excessive (6 nuevos soles) compared to what it costs anywhere else just one block away (exactly the double).

Room Tip: get a room second floor or higher, with windows to the inner courtyard

Firstly, everyone else on our G Adventures trip had nice rooms and no problems but I'm starting to feel a bit screwed over by G Adventures at this point, my room was unclean and stunk like it hadn't been used in a while where as some of our group got a top floor room with amazing views and all the luxuries....What's going on G Adventures? We all paid the same so why do some of us end up with terrible rooms continually and others get the lap of luxury?! Breakfast was good and Internet was mostly fine but it didn't make up for the musty, outdated room and cold water.
Not feeling the love G...
