“Just ok for me”

I'm sorry I can't agree with everyone else. The decor in the bedroom-green and white walls and red carpet was not to my taste. There was a strange assortment of breakfast food, but the omelets were good. Most of the staff were helpful. Had a great massage at the spa. Don't know if I would return.

We arrived late in the evening to find this gem of a small hotel in downtown Cusco. The staff was welcoming and helpful and our room was incredible -- furnished in modern style within a former old-fashioned mansion. One of the best breakfasts we had in our 2 week vacation throughout Peru. You will not be disappointed. Note: no elevator.

This place is awesome! GORGEOUS hotel located two blocks from Plaza de Armas, near a plaza with other beautiful hotels. It is a converted mansion with a beautiful courtyard and old spanish colonial architecture. We stayed in two different suites, our favorite being the Royal Suite. It had a hot tub, a huge master bed, two other queen beds, a massage room and sauna. The food is DELICIOUS, the service is excellent, there is an oxygen tank available for the high altitude, a wonderful spa and the cutest gift shop. There are pisco sour lessons in the evenings. Do yourself a favor and stay here - a real treat.

Room Tip: We booked for the Royal Suite. It was huge and has a beautiful courtyard balcony.

My two friends and I stayed here two nights, the first at the beginning of the trip and the last at the end.

Out first night there we were stunned by the beauty of the hotel and room. The staff is super nice and very helpful-they helped us get a taxi to Ollytamtambo (at a reduced rate!) and gave amazing restaurant recommendations.

Ok, the room...night 1 we took photos and posted them on Facebook. 2 floors, 1 king bed & 2 queens and balcony. It was stunning.

The next morning we had the complimentary breakfast. Can you say delicious? Quiche, cheeses, bread buffet, fresh fruits, cappuccinos to order and an apple pie!

Night 2. OMG! We had a private massage room in our room! We had a private sauna IN OUR ROOM! We had a 6 person jacuzzi IN OUR ROOM! Oprah could easily have stayed here-it was incredible! Oh yeah, a bathroom on each floor and a glass enclosed patio.

The spa services are great. Free use of the whirlpool and steam room. They bring you a delicious sweet iced tea while you lounge in the spa. Yeah!

Stay here. You will not want to leave. It is worth every penny.

I have stayed at the Casa Cartagena four times now and each year we return, the hotel continues to get better and more spectacular. Having traveled in more than 50 nations, this continues to be the best hotel I have ever stayed at while in one of the most amazing locations on earth - Cusco, Peru. The ambience, architecture, staff, service, food, spa, rooms, energy and experience is only something you can experience by staying. Having recommended this hotel to all of my friends and family as simply the best, I would offer the same to any interested travellers who would like to make their journey to one of the most amazing places on earth, even more incredible.

Room Tip: If this is your honeymoon or your once in a lifetime trip to Cusco & Machu Picchu, this is the p...

This hotel is a mixture of modern and colonial Architechture and furnishings, with a quirky boutique feel. The hotel is within a 5 minute walk of the central square of Cusco. There are 16 modern suites. Our room was on the ground floor overlooking a courtyard with fountain and flowers. Enchanting. We had a king sized bed ,iPod docking station, huge bathtubs and bouquets of long stemmed roses. We stayed in room 1 and had a lovely balcony although it was too cold when we were there to use. There is a nice spa and steam room, gym all free to use,as well as a range of treatments for which there is a charge. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. I have marked the hotel as a 4 star because the public rooms were very cold and unwelcoming. Really just a corridor and not at all places where you would linger,at least at the time when we stayed. A fire, for which there is scope, would have improved the ambience no end. A nice touch is that every night at 6pm guests are offered a free pisco sour.

We just came back from a great trip to Cuzco and Macchu Picchu. We stayed at Casa Cartagena while in Cuzco, for three nights. The hotel is in a great location, very comfortable and the staff is super nice and with such a great attitude.
We don't know exactly how much our room was since we book everything with the travel agency.
We definitely would recommend this hotel.
