Owner description: We are an Cultural interpretation center about how the Andean people understand the skies. The explanation in two rooms give us a great perspective, in dome we learn about southern sky and finally, if weather allows, we enjoy some stargazing!

The Planetarium is definitely a place to visit during your stay in Cusco. It is run by Ana Maria and her family, including their cute dog, and they really do their best in order to give the visitors all their knowledge as well as their sincere passion. For this reason they did organise the visit even we were a group of three people, while they usually organise visits for at least six people. All the explanations are comprehensible even for those who are astronomic illiterate and they make you discover a new world! Since the Planetarium is quite far from the center, they pick you up in town and they drive you till the Planetarium.

I found this to be a nice experience. The fact that this planetarium is so different from what you expect makes it very special. Located in a small rustic cottage by the hills where they give you a presentation and teach you about the starts and constellations projected on a dome. Then, you go outside (gets cold but they provide warm blankets) where you can look at the beautiful open sky and see the moon, stars, and galaxies using their professional telescopes.
The organizers' passion about their ancestors and astronomy quickly immerses you into it. If you have the time, this is an experience to remember.

I really enjoyed my time learning about the Southern hemisphere's night sky. They will pick you up in the small plaza beside plaza de armas and take you to their facilities just up on the hillside.

There are three aspects of this experience:
1) First thing you do is learn some interesting facts about astronomy and agriculture and the Incas,
2) Next is find out how to navigate through the night sky and some fun things to look out for and also how the south compares to the north sky.
3) You'll get a chance to look through their telescopes at clusters, the moon (which is actually super cool!), venus, and other things that may be up there depending on the weather conditions.

Although it's not a government operated planetarium (so don't expect some super advanced equipment), the organizers (who are super fun and enthusiastic as noted by other reviewers) definitely make up for it and you still get to see amazing sights!

It's a very fun alternative to going to a bar; I only wish that I had been able to go when I first arrived rather than at the end of my trip.

- If there is something you want to see in particular, let them know and they will try to find it for you in the telescopes.
- It can get cold, so bring your warm clothes! They give you hot tea when you're outside using the telescopes.
- Their communication is very good; just send them an email with any questions!
- They pick you up around 5:30PM and drop you back in the plaza about 2 hours later

Its not super cheap (s/50, s/30 for students/children), but if you budget for it, it's an enjoyable excursion you should try!

I'm going to begin by saying you HAVE to do this.
The enthusiasm of the lady was incredible for starters, she has so much passion about the stars its highly addictive.
Before you look through the telescope, the Northern and Southern Hemisphere constellations are explained. This is then followed by what the incas believed and gazed at.
When we went outside to look through the telescope I saw the Milky Way, the moon, Venus and a double star.
Unbelievable value for money. Easily the best thing I have done in Peru, if not South America.

The enthusiasm these people have about stars (and dark spaces between stars) is absolutely contagious. They put such an effort into showing you the splendors of the night and explain how important star gazing was for agriculture and the success of the Incas. Seeing the moon through their telescopes is breathtaking. One thing that would be nice would be to have a brochure of some of the highlights/where to look for things as it all happens so fast and I have since tried in vain to remember the different things they told us about specific stars.

There has been some confusion about the price. The price was 50 soles per person (as of September).

I would definitely recommend this unique experience.
