“The Hacienda is fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2009

We stayed two nights here and it seemed like the Hacienda would be great for families, couples, friends, or solo travelers. It's not a bad drive from Cuzco and is located on the outskirts of a town, but it feels like you are in the countryside. We were backpacking and on a low budget so this was a higher end hotel for us. The staff were the nicest and most accommodating people we experienced in Peru. They were flexible on dinner, breakfast, check out time, and they even accommodated our custom horse ride request. The staff coordinated our taxi's with no problem. The rooms are basic, but clean and wonderfully decorated. I'd describe this place as "basic luxury". The rooms have large shuttered windows. The sheets are fresh and the laundry service is cheap. This was my favorite place to stay in Peru by far. Breakfast and dinner were included in our rate, which is well worth it after eating in Cuzco several days. The food they serve is great! They are accommodating to picky eaters also. The dining room has a fireplace and is candlelit at night. It was a quiet place, but we could hear the church service in town in the mornings. They have a tennis court, horses, a children's tree house, washer toss game, a pool, and plenty of fresh air. You also can't beat that the profits go to the street children foundation.

This review is for NINOS HACIENDA located Fundo cruz pampa sector B
Huasao, Peru. Please do not confuse it with the Hotel located in Cusco.

The hacienda located in the countryside outside of Cusco was exceptionally well maintained, beautiful and relaxing. The hacienda arranged for us to be picked up in Cusco for a half hour ride back to the Hacienda.

My boyfriend and I really fell in love with this hacienda and when we arrived it seemed to be too good to be true! The grounds included a pool, tennis court, horse stables, a green lawn with fire pits and many shaded areas to lounge the day away. The grounds are rather large and comfortable. The accommodations were very nice. The rooms were tastefully decorated in modern minimalist fashion with high vaulted natural ceilings. The bed was wrought iron with clean white sheets and the bathroom was also very modern. The room included our own table and large shuddered windows. There are NO tv's or phones in these rooms. Just peace and quiet.

When we arrived we were very surprised that the grounds did not have any other guests. I attribute this to the fact that the Hacienda is more or less in the middle of nowhere. To be honest, My boyfriend and I only left the grounds to go horseback riding and on a strenuous bike ride (but rewarding) to Mara and Morays. The surrounding town was fairly run down and I cannot say whether it was dangerous or not, but we were not quite sure what would be worth seeing leaving the compound. Besides, the grounds really are that beautiful, offer a lovely view of the mountains and we wanted to get away from the hustle bustle of Cusco. The hacienda felt quite safe and is gated and fenced all around the grounds. It is a good romantic getaway.

The management onsite was quite wonderful and attentive. They were always very helpful and we enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners which were included in the price of our stay which was around $60 per night for one double room with a balcony and porch.

The services offered from hacienda are well worth it. The horseback ride to Tipon was beautiful and the horses are well tacked and taken care of. I was worried about riding horses in Peru due to the health of many but these horses were spoiled and lived in quite lovely stables with even lovelier stable hands who go out of the way to offer you a great time. Beware, you will need to practice your Spanish when dealing with some of the tour leaders...

The bike ride from Mara & Morays was also wonderful but beware this is an adventure bike ride. You should NOT be afraid of heights and should be acclimatized to the high altitude and in good physical shape. The bike ride was much more strenuous than communicated to us by the operators. You will be riding up steep inclines and cruising very fast down others. Luckily, they have van follow you in case you can make it all the way or need a break. I loved the bike ride in the end and enjoyed the lunch packed for us. The bikes given to us were of very high quality and overall, we were very impressed with the service.

Through and through I found the hacienda to exceed expectations and would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs to recuperate and rest.
