I treated my wife to a surprise 1st wedding anniversary here at the Encantada. I went for the 'Matrimonial package', which although not cheap (at $310) was actually outstanding value for an unforgettable 24-hr stay with everything that was included (see below). We are a young couple, and we would never dream of spending this much money on ourselves normally... but it was worth every penny - we had an amazing time.

The Hotel itself is spotlessly clean, and has a beautiful atrium, complete with spiral staircase that leads to all four floors. The girls at reception were incredibly professional. Our transfer from the airport was included, and we were quickly shown our room.

Although initially attracted to the rooms with balconies, we chose the No.2 Garden room, and it was gorgeous. 'Swan' towels on the bed, fabulously powerful and hot shower. Great after a week's trekking in the Cordillera Blanca. We really wanted to stay in this San Blas area, and were glad that we did - the little streets are very pretty and the views are incredible. There is a small terraced garden just outside our room to the front of the hotel - a real sun-trap, and we wished we'd had more time just to sit on the benches here and drink in the views. The walk down to the main square is fun, although quite steep on the way back up!

Our spa package (included) started in the late afternoon. The spa is right at the top of the hotel - and actually overlooks the city. Most beautiful spa in Peru? Possibly. We had an great side-by-side massage for an hour, then were left to enjoy the private jacuzzi for an hour, again with wonderful views of the city as the evening closed in.

After this, we had a champagne dinner (again, included in the package). The hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor, but the really special thing about this package is that they will serve your meal to you on the upper terrace, with panoramic views of Cusco. We were a bit worried about it being a bit chilly, but they provided blankets and even a gas heater, which kept us nice and toasty. The food was great, and I cannot imagine a more romantic place to have a meal in all of Cusco. Magical. Utterly magical.

Returning to our room, we found that a hot-water bottle had been left in our bed. A nice touch.

All in all, this is a very, very nice mid-range price, top-range quality Hotel. And the packages are a real treat. We recommend without hesitation!

Room Tip: The three balcony rooms tend to go first, which are really good value at about $130, and do have gre...

I stayed in the hotel for three nigh with my family, in two rooms. My younger kids is 10yr.
He has episode of high altitude illness with severe dizziness. The staff is very caring and send oxygen to us and reassure us about the condition.
Apart from that, all the staff are very friendly, and I will recommend my friend to this hotel if they visit cusco.

Just returned from a 2 week trip to Peru. My husband and I stayed at Encantada Spa Hotel for several nights of our trip. We hiked the Inca Trail and did a 7 day Amazon tour and in between these trips we stayed at Encantada. They were very accommodating of all our check in and check outs. The hotel is in a great neighborhood of Cusco called San Blas. It is kind of a hike up in the hills and not too close to the Plaza de Armas but if you are in Peru then you are probably there to hike around. The walk to the Plaza de Armas every morning was quite nice along the colonial cobble stone streets. Each night the hotel would bring a hot water bottle to put in the sheets which was a nice touch. The bottle stayed hot the whole night and is very useful as Cusco gets down to the 30's F every night in July. They have a great breakfast in the mornings with fresh fruit juices, fruit, bread, omelets, cheese, meats, tea, and coffee. They have a decent dinner menu as well and all the staff are super friendly, helpful and accommodating. The hotel has a beautiful little garden with chairs you can sit in which overlooks Cusco. My husband and I had a massage after hiking the Inca Trail. The massage was o.k. I felt like it could have been better but overall a nice and cheap (50$ pp for an hour) way to relax after hiking for 4 days. The hotel is also close to Saqsawaman ruins up by the big statue of Jesus, an easy hike up to the ruins from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great, affordable, comfortable place to stay in the beautiful city of Cusco.

Room Tip: We stayed in two different rooms throughout our time here. Our last room was on the 3rd floor right...

I had read that Cusco was not a quiet city and was pleased to find this hotel, a few streets behind the city center. This is a great hotel, but can't guarantee a quiet environment as there are neighbors doing construction and with loud dogs and roosters as well as intermittent fireworks throughout the day and night. That said, the staff here is wonderful- English speaking, eager to please and very attentive and knowledgeable. The experience starts with a complimentary airport pickup. There is always a supply of coca tea and coffee available. Laundry can be done at a reasonable price at the hotel with a quick turnaround (although the lady at the shop a few steps away has even cheaper rates). Breakfast is nice, plentiful and included and the same restaurant does have a good dinner menu if you want to stay in. The hotel is great about storing bags while you hike to Machu Picchu and returning them to your new room in anticipation of your return. There is a lovely garden in front and balcony on the 4th floor.

The only potential negative- this hotel is near the top of an Incan made street barely wide enough for a skinny car to drive through. Doing a 3 point turn is a nightmare. Some taxis can't make it up there. It is only a 20 minute walk to the town square- but the walk back up is challenging due to the narrow hilly streets and the altitude. And to top it off, the hotel has 4 floors centered around a narrow spiral of stairs- if you are above the 2nd floor upon arrival to Cusco, expect to be breathless. Wifi signal was a little spotty above the first floor too.

All in all, this is a great little hotel in a good location for pedestrians. The shower is forceful, the beds are comfortable, there is a bar at night, and the hot water bottles placed between the sheets each evening for warmth are heaven.

Room Tip: If you are new to altitude, ask for a room on the first or second floor.

Had a great stay here in the Cusco hillside away from the busy and noisy main square. The staff is very friendly, professional and caring - and english speaking.
At night there is a hot water bottle waiting in your bed which at this time of year is a pleasant surprise (temperatures can drop to 3C).
The rooms are kind of small but you're probably not in Cusco to be inside only. The hotel stored pur luggage when we had a two day hike to Machu Picchu.
Good breakfast, also enjoyed dinner here (had the traditional lomo saltado=sirloin steak mixed with tomatoes, onions and served with rice and french fries), and in the evening there's happy hour next to the fireplace (2 for 1).
There's always room for improvement anywhere you go. Here you could say the flat-screen tv in the room is a bit small and that you most likely will wake up when staff comes to work in the morning - or some guests come home late at night talking loudly in the reception area (it's a door bell and the rooms are far from sound proof). But these are minor details compared to the overall experience.
We stayed five nights. Would definitely come back and I warmly recommend this hotel - starting at some USD 110.

We, a family of 4, stayed at Encantada hotel during our trip to Peru. We stayed 3 nights consecutively, then went to Machu Picchu, then back for one night. We didnt stay in the main hotel, but at the casa, a house that is an extension of the hotel, next door. The casa is totally separate from the hotel itself, it is a 2 story, 3 bedroom house. The bedrooms are upstairs and we have a kitchen, dining room, family room with a fireplace, and there is a bathroom downstairs too. The 3 bedroom upstairs - one has a queen bed, and then 2 bedrooms with one twin bed in each room. There is also the second bathroom upstairs. There is also a common area upstairs with a desk and chairs. The internet for the casa is separate than the hotel, it was fast. There is a portable heater in each room. It does get pretty cold at night.
The plus of staying at the casa: privacy. We have the whole place to ourselves. Then the fireplace - someone came every night offering to build fire in the fireplace. It is so nice to be able to sit in front of it as a family, after a whole day of adventure, and just relax.
The cons: you have to go outside to go to the main hotel/lobby, for breakfast for example. For us it is not a big deal.
The staff at the hotel is friendly, and accommodating. We love the hot water bottle that we got every night. Breakfast is not huge but a good balance, there were fruits, juices, cereals, milk, breads and omelette made to order with ham, cheese and green onions.
The location - It is on a really small road, our travel agent's vehicle couldnt fit in, so each day after our tours, they drop us off as close as they can, and we walked to the hotel. Not far, about 3 mins walking but it was enough to make you out of breath in the thin air. Church of San Blas is about 10 mins walking. And Cusco Plaza de Armas is 15-20 mins walking.
Overall, we love the hotel.
