Throughout my stay in Peru, in the various cities, I always opted for private rooms with ensuite, as they were a better option than the dorms and were affordable. Samay Wasi was the first hostel where I was more than happy to bunk down in a dorm. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable and warm, and the staff were just fantastic.
Judith at the front desk was great with directions and recommendations, she also helped me a bit with my Spanish.
Max,on night shift was really helpful. I had to catch a 3:45am coach to go on my trek and he woke me up, had my coca tea waiting and sat out talking with me until my coach arrived.
Fab hostel, great people and the bathroom facilities are really clean and private.

We spent 2 nights in a private room with bathroom and 3 others nights with shared bathroom. Both rooms were clean and comfortable.
A big plus is the kitchen (spacious and clean) and the “living room” which makes you feels at home with sofas, PC, books and TV with DVD. Always free coffee and tee.
The stuff is helpful and friendly.

The location San Blas is perfect and don´t worry, it takes only 10 minutes from the Plaza des Armas and is good training for your Inka/Salkantay Trek. I never felt tired ;)

We stayed for six nights in Samay Wasi 2 and we liked this hostel. When we had a trip we could place our luggage in the luggage storage, breakfast was ok, the staff was overall very friendly and helpfull and with our hola hostel membership we got a 10% discount. The hostel is clean and we really liked the good, clean hot showers. The internet is slow. The neighbourhood San Blas is very nice and pretty but realise that you have to climb from the Plaza the Armas, but thats Cusco. We found that some rooms are really noisy, especially room number 10 next to the front door. The room is really big but you can´t sleep very good there.

We stayed here for a few nights before and after the inca trail. It was clean and quiet, but the location can be hard to get to. It is a 10 minute uphill walk from the main part of town and taxis and buses won´t go as the streets are too narrow. The free internet was good. The free breakfast was basic but you could have eggs for a small extra. We left our bags there while we went on the Inca Trail. The kitchen is good. The staff were confused a lot of the time and it took us 30 minutes to check out as they got the bill wrong and then didn´t have any change. We almost missed our bus. But overall, a good hostel.

The hostel is super quaint with an amazingly friendly staff and daily breakfast with the coca leaves was always a pleasure. Clean room, big bathroom, hot water and plenty of sunshine.
Henry the manager was a great guide and his wife works there as well. What a nice family. Maybye you'll get lucky and see his baby Luciano when you choose this great location filled with amazing energy and light:)
Happy travels to Cusco!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for room #9 or the upstairs room.

Highly recommend this place - staff were really friendly and helpful, no more so than when I got food poisoning and had to cancel Inca Trail - they rescheduled our accommodation really quickly and without fuss and were very helpful on medical advice etc - double rooms are also clean (well they were before I had food poisioning and I presume they are again now!!!) and spacious. It is also quiet at night and in a good location just a 10 minute walk to main square.
Given that we stayed around Cusco for nearly 2 weeks which included a trip to the Amazon and we left our luggage in this hostel during this time, I couldnt recommend this place highly enough. When visiting Cusco, look no further.

We booked 2 nights and left our luggage there whilst we went to machu picchu for 2 days. Their luggage room is the laundry room which is kept open all day, easy for anyone to get to your stuff. One of our bags was wet when we came back. The room itself wasn't bad, quite large with a big bathroom. When we came back from wandering around on the first day a member of staff was coming out of our room, we asked her why she was in there but she couldn't give an answer (nothing in the room was different and nothing of ours was taken so we didn't pursue any further). On the second day a similar thing happened. We came back around 3pm and found 3 people in our bathroom pulling the tiles off the walls and doing a complete renovation of the bathroom. We were quite shocked as no one had mentioned this to us, not on checkin, not before we left for the day. It was really disappointing. The manager did not apologise for not letting us know, just said they would be done soon. It was unacceptable as we couldn't hang out in our room, so we decided to check out and move to another hostel nearby. The manager couldn't understand why we wanted to just kept saying sorry. When we went to settle the bill we were going to pay in US, the manager (Henry) tried charging a rate of $1 = S3 which is really high. He must of thought we were stupid or something as the going rate is S2.8. We also got our laundry done the day we were there for S3.5per kilo. They dont use a dryer, but hang your clothes all around the shared garden for everyone to see. They dont have many clothes lines so your clothes are placed ontop of trees, roofs, pretty much anywhere where there is sun. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone as they are dishonest and unprofessional.
