“This restaurant is closed and is no longer in this address.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2012

I just want to inform other travelers that the restaurant Makayla is no longer in the esquina Plaza de Armas con calle Loreto. Instead there is a Starbucks coffe shop in that address. When we were to visit the restaurant a few weeks ago we were surprised by the fact that the restaurant is gone.

I asked the concierge of the hotel which is located in the first floor of the same building about the new address for this restaurant and she couldn't tell me. I also asked to the concierge in the hotel were we were staying if they could tell me the new address for this restaurant and they couldn't find it.

It looks like is closed for good.

“Peruvian with a flare!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2011

I did not know what to expect from this restaurant, right on the main square, expected a tourist trap but was treated to one of the finest food experiences of my life. You must enter the restaurant from a side street and climb two floors to an exquisite and very comfortable dining area. I chose to sit on the very narrow balcony overlooking the main square in Cusco where I could observe all the activity around the cathedral. I ordered the Alpaca and quinoa soup and the alpaca trinity. I had no idea what I was in for! It took q while for my food to reach the table but it was more that worth the wait. The alpaca/quinoa soup was incredible. The melody of spices used brought out the taste of the alpaca and the perfectly cook quinoa. This was truly a wonderful soup that I had several times during my stay. Order it! My second course was the alpaca tenderloin. Beautifully plated with purple rice this meal was fit for a king and something that would rival nay restaurant anywhere. Served with three small tenderloins perfectly cook and complimented with a different sauce on each. One drizzled with a red pepper sauce, one with a passion fruit sauce and the other with a local green herb sauce. An incredible find and a must in Cusco

“Nice place near Plaza de Armas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2011

The best thing of the restaurant is the location on a second floor overlooking the Cathedral and Plaza de Armas. Nice place to get a rest and have lunch. The food was good but a bit pricey to Cusco standards. Alpaca bruschettas were great. The service is leaning to the slowish side. If you're not in a hurry or very hungry I recommend this place

“Bad place with very bad service!”

Food took forever. Not good for high prices. Place relies on its location. Rude staff.
