“My favourite hotel in Peru!”
Reviewed 29 June 2012

Lovely boutique Hote. Modern and small so nice and quiet. We stayed here on two occasions whilst in Peru, the hotel kept one of our cases for us between visits.

Pros-
Close to the main square
Free tea and coffee at reception.
Breakfast from 5:30am.
Clean and modern.
Friendly staff who speak good English.

Cons-
Nothing really, our favourite hotel in Peru.

Tips-
Try 'Inca Grill' on main square for dinner, or 'Sara's' just along the street.
Also the restaurant 'Greens' is just round the corner and does nice organic food for lunches and dinner but at premium europeon prices.

Room Tip: Not too close to reception

We stayed here on two different occasions. One night after our Andean Explorer train ride from Puno and 3 nights after our Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu journey. The first time we stayed we had a small room on the second (lobby) floor. The second time we were in room 304 which was larger and had a nice view over the rooftops to the city and hills (with windows that opened). As others have mentioned, the rooms are not huge but how much time is spent in the room anyway. The rooftop terrace was nice for relaxing and spending some quiet time after our tours and walks around Cusco. The hotel is located just around the corner from the Plaza de Armas, a great location. The staff was friendly and caring. We had a cooked to order egg breakfast every morning. This is the type of small, unpretentious place we like to stay to get more of the local flavor of the areas we visit.

I stayed here last week for two nights, the night of my arrival and the following day started a tour that included an overnight near Machu Picchu. The hotel was kind enough to keep my larger bag making travel a bit easier. Machu Picchu has a place where you can check your bag for about 3SOL. This hotel felt very new or very recently redone. I would highly recommend it.

It is a beautiful pettite boutique hotel located in the best area of Cusco, near to everything! It is a colonial house beautifully updated to a modern style (a fusion that is worthy) and the personnel is excellent, especially the receptionist Freddy who made our stay an outstanding one! The rooms are very clean, the only con is that the rooms are a little too small, but anyway are comfortable enough to give you a good rest and make you feel good while visiting this magic Inca city...

We spent 5 nights at this hotel 4 separate times. We were able to leave luggage in between stays.
The hotel is modern with chrome and glass. Sort of a nice contrast to the Inka and colonial buildings right outside.
The staff is extremely friendly and courteous.
The rooms are plenty big enough and clean. The hotel is quiet and convenient to the main square.

If you are a fan of great service, you will not be disappointed. From the time we got there, the staff was very attentive, polite and very professional. The accommodations are very clean. Even though rooms are small and the hotel is compared to a 3-star US standard, the service is splendid. Just 1 1/2 from the main plaza.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms far at the back if you want a better internet signal.

We were dropped off at 9 am by our driver to this hotel and were worried that we would not be able to check in. The staff at the front desk were so helpful and accomodating and had us in our room within 15 mins. Then we were worried we were too close to the stairs, faced the busy street and the room was too small. Again unfounded worries. The room turned out to be big enough for 2 and we heard no noise from the lobby, outside or people using the stairs. Boy, were we surprised. Everyone speaks in hushed tones and even walk quietly....don't know how its done but it is! This is a fantastic little hotel that is very central. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and my only complaint is that we didn't have a few more days to spend here. Will try to give you a breakdown of amenities:
Rooms:
Not huge but well set up. We had to pack and repack a couple of times for different trips (Inca trail and Amazon) so had stuff all over the place but it was fine. My original fears were unfounded. There is a flatscreen TV in the room but never turned it on. As well there was a heater for the cooler nights. The beds are very, very comfortable and the sheets of high quality as were the pillows. No reason not to get a good nights sleep here. The bathroom had a raised shower and there was conditioner/shampoo in a basket as well as soaps.

Proximity:
We were a block walk from the Plaza des Armas. Really close to the central area. There is a grocery store right across the street and up to the right as you exit the hotel. Reasonable prices for snacks. It was easy crossing the street and while there is traffic it wasn't unmanageable. There are many restaurants, bank machines and even a Staples type store within walking distance. For those that are dying for a good cup of expresso/latte, Starbucks is set up in Cusco now and is within 2 blocks of this hotel. It was also a good place for our tour operator to pick us up and drop us off without endangering our lives.

Amenities in hotel:
Coffee/Tea (both Coca and regular) is available all day in the lobby and is changed regularly. There is a computer for guests to use right in the lobby. Wifi is available throughout the hotel. We had problems and the fellows at the front desk got one of their 'specialists' to come in and help my husband reset an IP address. After that everything worked wonderfully. Breakfast was superb and filling and started at 0530 so we could eat before heading out on the Inca Trail. All kinds of fruits, yogurts, breads are available and eggs are made to order. We were very full when we finally pushed ourselves away from the table. The rooftop terrace is so inviting, as I said wish we had more time. Really was a relaxing little place.

I really, really enjoyed our stay here and it was reasonably priced for Cusco. The real value behind this hotel is the staff and cleanliness. Everyone is working constantly and has a ready smile. The lobby is constantly being cleaned and they are always bending over backwards to accomodate your stay. Our tour operator in Cusco did not speak English very well and the young people at the front desk were always interceding on our behalf to ensure we understood what time we were being picked up. They even made calls to the tour operator on our behalf which eliminated our need to have a phone.

This is a good value hotel. It is not a five star with pool and gym facilities but it certainly does have what it takes to make a stay in a city that is a jumping off point to adventures very enjoyable. While sleeping in a tent on a rainy night on the Inca Trail, I thought fondly toward the bed I would be sleeping in at the end of the journey!

Room Tip: There are stairs everywhere but the staff will assist you.
