We booked this hotel based on all the great reviews. Unfortunately it fell short of our expectation on a very simple fact that a taxi which was confirmed to be booked on our behalf never showed up to pick us up from the train station. With the understanding that we were to pay 30 soles for pick up from Poroy station. Because we do not speak the language or know the area we inquired the hotel for their assistance, Karla, who was our correspondent, kindly agreed to help. Unfortunately we waited and waited at the station until we were the last passengers left. Luckily there were a couple of taxis available so we just showed them the hotel address and they brought us here. Upon arrival to the hotel, we told the lady at reception about what happened and she kind of brushed it off, which made us a bit upset. Perhaps she didn't fully understand what we were telling her because of language barriers, but still...a bit unacceptable. She apologized but I'm not certain if she did so just to get us off her back. We weren't expecting anything from the hotel. Just wanted them to recognize that they need to be organized and be accountable for their guest, regardless of the stars outside their hotel.
As far as the room goes, it's nice inside. At least the room we have is unique with a mezzanine, but no window. Only skylight. Ground is slightly slanted to enter the bathroom so it's easy to slip. There is constant cleaning noise or something of the sort all morning. And voices can be heard through these walls.
We went down for breakfast at 9:35am and there was nothing much left but some stale bread a few slices of ham and cheese, and a few sausages floating in a "clay pot".
I'm writing this review as I'm laying in bed at this hotel. We still have one night left here...and to be honest, I wish I was staying at a different hotel.
Although I have to add that they are accommodating with storing your luggages and it's already in your room when you get here. But then again, most hotels would do the same.
