We stayed two nights after our trip to Machu Picchu. It's a small hotel that feels cozy and friendly. The staff are helpful. When we arrived it was pouring rain and THREE staff members brought umbrellas out to our taxi and kept us and our luggage dry. The room was cheerful and well decorated and super clean. Breakfast was quite good. Free bottles of water in the room each day. The room was a bit cold, but an electric heater warmed it nicely.

We walked a number of times from the Plaza das Armas to the hotel, only about 8 minutes. We ate all of our meals either on the street near the hotel, or around the Plaza. We had one bout of upset stomachs and went out looking for soup for dinner. Behold, the restaurant "Mr. Soup" is only 3 minutes from the hotel, towards the Plaza, and the soups were perfect!

If I return to Cusco I plan to stay at the Terra Viva Saphi!

I adored this hotel. I missed it so much when I moved on to Puno. The building is amazing, it is close to Plaza das Armas and it has two small court yards. It reminded me of a typical Spanish house.

The staff are well mannered, friendly and extremely helpful. When you need something, it is done immediately. The rooms are very clean with a lovely scent and you are provided with two free bottles of water everyday.

Breakfast was delicious especially the kekes - we couldn't get enough of those! We had such a positive and happy experience here, we would all come back! A big thank you to the staff at this hotel.

Loved this hotel - clean, quiet, huge bed, lovely bathrooms and yummy breakfast. Warning - I put in a bag of laundry and a few bits went missing despite being very expensive (and I still had to pay as it was my word against theirs). Also beware large water bottles near the breakfast buffet-my friend filled up my water bottle from one of these and I later found out it was Pisco!

Room Tip: I stayed in 3 different rooms, 2 were great but one was in a corner with only one tiny skylight so p...

We spent three nights here before our trek to Macchu Picchu. After a long day of traveling, we were greeted by hot coca tea. The rooms were spacious and clean. The hotel is located in a perfect place- close enough to allow you to walk to city center, far enough away that city noise did not keep us up at night. Wifi doesn't work so well in the rooms but it's fine in the lobbies and there are computers that you can use anytime. Overall, it was a good hotel! Much better than the other one we stayed in after our trek, Torre Dorada.

For the unprepared, the tourism industry im cusco can feel like a massive shakedown for every Nuevo Sol you have (of course! It's a tourism city after all and let's not mention the shameful 400$ gringo-pricing on flights for the hour hop from Lima).

It an be quite challenging to find good value for money (and assuming you want something more than a hostel). But frankly this hotel is exactly what I was looking for for cusco (since in cusco you don't hang ou in your room). Rooms are modern, clean and the staff will bend over backwards to help you. And did I mention clean?, white sheets are white, bathroom is spotless. Only problem is that some rooms have been smoked in (despite it being a nonsmoking hotel) and some I out party had to eventually change room (when the air freshener wore off and the cigarette smoke came back out).

It is a smaller hotel, so not restaurant on site (except for the breakfast) but most other amenities are there (free wifi, laundry service, pickup from the airport included in the room rate, etc...). The essential free coca tea in the lobby. I agree with the previous review about the breakfast, it is not an super impressive spread, but more than enough for a large continental breakfast (didn't try the hot food in the clay pots), and I didn't have much of an appetite due to the altitude.

So for 100$/night I feel that you can't beat that. Being a 5-7 min walk from plaza de aromas also means you sleep more quietly and Saphi street is on a gentle slope (sounds silly but do it a few times a day and you'll appreciate it in altitude... No crazy steps like on Calle Suezia)

It's my second stay and I would gladly stay there again if I have to go back to Cusco.

We stayed at villa Saphi before and after our inca trail tour in October. This hotel is perfect for a luxury stay in Cusco. It is located about 5min walk from the main square. The service is of a very high standard and all amenities are well thought out. Breakfast buffet was excellent-variety of fruit, juices, scrambled eggs, fresh bread and tamales! The rooms are beautifully presented with huge comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms with high pressure hot water showers. We stayed in a double room first (211) and then the suite (212) which has a bath+shower and lounge room separate. Overall this is an excellent hotel and I'd highly recommend a stay at villa Saphi!

I stayed at the Tierra Viva Saphi in Peru on two occasions. The first time around they gave us a room that was so small, that after we opened our suitcases, there was no place to step on the floor. The staff, however, were very nice. So on our return trip from Macchi Picchu, they have us a big room. The rooms were somewhat sterile with not much ambience. The windows are small and I felt claustrophobic, especially in the first room. The breakfast was average for Peru standards. At times I felt the scrambled eggs were made with non-fresh eggs, and had a stale smell. There are so many hotels in Cusco, I would suggest places closer to the center of the city.
In contrast, the Tierra Viva in Miraflores, Lima, was quite good.
