This is a boutique place with heaps of character. We loved the little courtyard and open fire off reception for sitting in front of on our return after dinner. It was handy having coca and mint tea at reception and the staff were friendly and helpful

We booked a superior double room which was very spacious and quiet; 203 upstairs on our first stay and 101 on the ground floor for our second stay. The bathroom had lovely toiletries but the plug didn't work in the first room and the shower did not drain away properly in the second. We needed help with the safe in the first room due to outdated instructions and gave up on the TV in the second. The sockets and brackets were loose. We found we had just enough bedding for the temperature, it would have been insufficient if the weather was colder.

Breakfast was good for a hotel of this size, decent coffee, cereals, fresh fruit and juices and a few cooked items.

The location is perfect - a 10 minute stroll to the main plaza and shopping area. There is also a Laundromat across the road.

There was a general strike on the day we were leaving and the receptionist was very helpful getting us a taxi to take us to the airport before the roads were blockaded.

Despite the quibbles this is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a superior double opening onto the courtyard

Perfect at the Tierra Viva Hotel:
- the rooms
- the matrasses (slept like in heaven)
- the staff
- the free tea

Location (5-10 Minutes walk to the Cathedral (City Center)) and breakfast buffet were almost perfect.

Stay there and you won't regret it!

The wonderful staff at this hotel went out of their way to assist us in every way possible - from bringing oxygen to the room for my husband who had altitude sickness to giving us a quiet room, to finding a room for us when I had mixed up our return date from the Inca Trail.

We had originally booked into the other Tierra Viva Plaza hotel close to main square. We only stayed one night after spending the night listening to thumping dance music from a nearby nightclub. This might not bother some people but it did bother us as we both had headaches from the altitude. Note, the hotel is doing everything they can to sound proof the room, and they kindly moved us to their other hotel, the Tierra Viva Saphi. I cannot say enough about how wonderful all the staff were at both hotels.

We stayed in a suite in both hotels and they were excellent. Spacious and nicely decorated. I highly recommend paying a little extra for a suite.

Room Tip: Go for a suite or superior room

First time in Peru and totally enjoyed Cusco--especially the service front the Tierra Viva Cusco Saphi staff….always friendly, helpful---philosophy of how can I help….They even brought up a cup of tea when I was carrying a bunch of bags, and didn't feel too well.

Room Tip: The room on the 2nd floor in the back had a really high ceiling…and the room was a bit larger

The Tierra Viva Hotels (Lima-Cusco) besides having an excellent location, were very comfortable, clean, their staff were very nice and servicial. They had wifi all over their facilities and breakfast (included) was delicious and varied. 100% recommended!!!
